The importance people put on certain classes (or certain majors, once you get to college) is absolutely ludicrous given how little it'll matter in the long run. As a liberal arts major, I can assure you that you need to know how to balance your checkbook, calculate tips and know how to figure out percents for sales...and there are plenty of math majors and accountants for the rest.
