Puntabulous Welcomes Autumn!

I love Autumn! It is by far the best season in the whole wide world. The cool, refreshing air! My impending birthday! The onset of argyle sweater season! What’s not to love?!

p10102231.JPG
What should I do to celebrate my favorite season?

p1010224.JPG
I know! I’ll go to the park!

p10102251.JPG
That was quick! Let me find a quiet place to sit and read the new J.R.R. Tolkien book, The Children of Hurin.

p10102261.JPG
“Fear me! I bear the light of the Eldar! For I am Thurin! Son of Hurin! Son of Dwildor! Son of Gwaindor! Son of Frildor! Son of Fwildorin! Son of Sorin! Son of Sorowin! Son on Pildarin! Son of Pildarinin! Son of Hildor! Son of Hildorin!”

p10102281.JPG
Well fuck this!

p10102291.JPG
Look! A random light post in the woods! It’s like I’m in Narnia! But without the in-your-face religious symbology!

p1010239.JPG
What’s that saying? “Leaves of three, let them be. Random berries, eat aplenty?”

p1010249.JPG
Or is it pea pods?

p1010248.JPG
Yay! Autumn also means Christmas is coming! I can’t wait till you get nice and big, so I can cut you down little tree!

p1010250.JPG
Don’t worry ugly slanted tree! I’m sure you’ll make a Peanuts character very happy someday!

p1010243.JPG
Persian Parrotia?

p1010247.JPG
But the factually accurate historical drama 300 told me to fear all Persians! EEK!

p1010253.JPG
These tree roots may or may not give me nightmares.

p1010251.JPG
Luckily the cuteness of these ducks will protect me.

p1010274.JPG
Here are some more crazy root things. These are cuter than the last ones though. These look like Wack-A-Mole! No guard ducks necessary.

p1010260.JPG
Sweet! Paradise Island! I assume that there will be half-naked men cooling me off with giant leaf-fans when I get over there. Oh! Or maybe Lynda Carter! And I assume since it’s called the “Natural Area”, I get to walk around au naturale.

p10102721.JPG
I would have thought the bridge to Paradise Island would have been adorned in gold, or at least the antlers of an exotic beast.

p1010263.JPG
But it kinda just looks like everything else over here.

p1010264.JPG
I heard something rustling around in here. I’m sure if you look hard enough you’ll see a jaguar or cougar. I haven’t found it yet.

p1010265.JPG
Here I am relaxing on a park bench.

p1010266.JPG
But then I realized I was sharing it with this thing.

p1010267.JPG
So I ran away as quickly as possible.

p10102701.JPG
Ooooo. How artistic! I love the way the shadows reflect off the shadows. It all has a deeper meaning than our feeble minds can comprehend.

p1010269.JPG
That’s where I went to graduate school! It was very prestigious! The application read: “What is your credit card number?”

p1010279.JPG
This bridge is much cooler than the one to Paradise Island.

p1010280.JPG
It took me to a secluded spot where I made out with…myself.

p10102711.JPG
That’s all! Time to go! Fairwell my woodland friends!

You never did say, did you get Linda Carter’s autograph?????

    HUGS…

  • By Kelly, October 15, 2007 @ 11:14 am

Huh. Who’d have thought that all the woodland creatures speak the common language of disdain! Now when I depart the woods I will be sure to turn back and shout, with arms held high, “yes! Fuck you too!”

Hahaha! Autumn is my favorite season as well. I’ve never heard woodland animals say “Fuck you!”. They usually say, “I will eat your flesh after you are dead, hairless meat sack!”

All this reflective art has got me reflecting.

If your birthday is defined as being “in Autumn”. And there is clearly no Autumn in Florida… does that mean your birthday cannot be observed here?

(and I am therefore excused from buying obligatory birthday gifts?)

(I have a lot of relatives with “autumn” birthdays. and also “winter”. The answer to this question could be life altering.)

    “Well, fuck this.”

Yes. Pretty much sums up my attitude towards all Tolkien.

Great pics!! Only thing missing are the lonely middle-aged Senator Larry Craig (or George Michael) types lurking in the bushes!!! Now THAT is a photo essay I wanna see!! “Puntabulous wonders what that bald man is doing over in the bushes. Is he a bird watcher? Hmmmm”

While I don’t know how I stumbled upon your blog, I’m sure glad I did!

  • By Logan, October 15, 2007 @ 6:22 pm

Okay, so you didn’t steal my post exactly, you did your puntabulous commenting on photos, but I would just like the record to show that my post of Oneonta in October preceded this posting of yours.

Meerkat Manor? I swear those roots looked like that…

  • By Jason, October 15, 2007 @ 11:49 pm

    Cripes, you’re a funny one :)
That was thoroughly enjoyable, and tingly.

  • By Ryan (the real Ryan), October 16, 2007 @ 3:27 am

Horrible animals. Eat them! Show ‘em who’s boss.

  • By AdamX, October 16, 2007 @ 2:35 pm

Haha… I second Ryan’s recommendation. Then again, I haven’t had lunch yet so it just may be hunger talking.

    *grabs his kitchen knife*

Those tree roots are CREEPY. And the little animals are grouchy, huh?

  • By Veganman, November 25, 2007 @ 12:04 pm

Mangrove roots aren’t creepy, they’re misunderstood.

Now, do you take the photo first then think of a caption, or do you think of a caption and act accordingly?
