The same teacher who gives group projects to adult students with full time jobs and doesn’t give time in class to work together also said C.A.D. stood for “Computer Aided Drawings”.
He’s my Introduction to Construction Project Management teacher.
Just sayin.

My recent adventure in Group Project Hell for the writing pedagogy course I’m taking involved my group giving me feedback on an assignment I’d created for a freshmen comp course where my group said I would “overwhelm” students by asking them to choose two of the five short stories we’d read for the semester and write a paper on them. They suggested that instead of giving them the vague “write a paper” instruction, I should give them a list of topics to choose from (ignoring the fact that the whole point of the class is to teach students how to think critically and generate their OWN topic ideas). When they then began tearing down my plan to TEACH critical thinking because it would, again, “overwhelm” them with too much information, I lost it and demanded, “And at what point in this class will my students actually be doing any work?! Right now, you’ve got me doing it all for them!”
Group Projects are fucked in the head. I know this post was about the incompetency of an instructor but still…

My CAD teacher was incompetent too… Maybe its a requirement?

I learned CAD on the job, but my boss told me he ended up as a student aid for the class because he knew more than the teacher.
I know I should be taking courses in Project Management, but I don’t feeel like it…
