Cloverfield

It’s awesome.

You have to see it now, with a big crowd, and on the big screen.

It will surely suck on DVD, so get it while the getting’s good.

I heart J.J. Abrams.

Really. It’s an incredible experience.

I can tell that you are subdued and not at all excited about this movie, lol!

I just got back from seeing it, and I totally agree. Definitely lived up to the hype. J.J. Abrams is a genius.

I went just to see the Star Trek teaser ;)

The movie was excellent and the ending is still making me sad. Candy, soda, cookies, all have failed to improve my mood :(

Kinda freaky how they made NYC in the movie look as real as it did. I thought the evil ’cause in the movie was gonna be something to do with a gigantic Hillary…but I was mistaken. :)

    /agree completely

thank goodness you are feeling better. my sister and my boyfriend are at the movie right now – together – do you see how life is totally unfair? I will see it during the week.

…but is it SCARY? I don’t do scary movies and even by the trailers, I’m a little ascaredy cat.

You are correct. Most excellent movie. Saw it last night and except for the air-headed, immature, loud-ass teenagers (God, am I that old?) the movie kicked some serious ass!

Yes, yes, yes, you liked it, but did you actually SEE the “monster”? I’m not spending $10 to go see it and not have a monster.

I’ll have to wait for DVD, I HATE theaters and loud people talking through the movie. I’d rather see it on my 40 in hi-def with friends around. But thanks for the review, it’s def going in my netflix que.

Seeing it tonight and looking forward to it. Although people who get motion sickness probably should wait until DVD. I thought Blair Witch worked much better on the small screen.

I’m not one of those people and so HAVE to see it on the big screen.

I thought that it was good. more funny than scary though. I know that it makes sense, but I didn’t think that the girl should have made it to the end with him, there were only 2 scenes that made me wish I didn’t see them, I couldn’t imagine that happening. But it was all good. But then again, WOW there was alot of bass in it. And yes, there are alot of loud teenagers, it pissed me off, they were always talking. oh well, maybe I’ll go to a matinee while they are in school.lol

I saw it last night and it was OKAY. A little too much “relationship” and not enough monster.

If you have any type of MOTION SICKNESS, DONT GO. Lots of camera movement… even more so than Blair Witch. I dont get motion sickness but halfway thru I started to feel a little queasy.

The movie was alright, I guess I was expecting JJ Abrams to break his “never answering questions” method he uses with everything that he does. I loved the mystery behind it but nothing was answered in the end. Deep down I knew nothing was going to be answered, I guess I was hoping for a miracle.

Still an entertaining movie so if you are looking for anything to see this weekend with friends go to this.

Jerky, hand-held camera movies make me a little queasy. Thanks for the advice, Howard and GoKitty. I’ll wait ’til the DVD. *smooches*

I will have to see this movie! They were filming a scene from this movie out side my hotel while I was in L.A. this past summer.

  19. Nick on January 20, 2008 at 11:10 pm

Yup…you will get sick. I knew this going in, and I wanted to see it. I really did like the movie, but there is a lot of running around with the camera and the camera pointing down…those scenes sent me over the edge! It’s been 4 hour ssince I’ve seen it, and my stomach is still a little upset.

    Great movie though :-)

The concept was a fantastic idea. however, the shaky cam pointing at the street (or anywhere other than what you WANT to see) was almost as annoying as the camera holder. He rambles non-stop through the entire movie with dumb drunken frat-boy stupidness. By midway you will be praying for a monster to crush this retarded character. The party setup at the beginning is a contrived scene that is supposed to make us believe the idiot main character is SO in love with a girl that he would endanger his life and the lives of his friends to run around Manhattan dodging tanks and monsters – redicuolous. The Monster destroying NYC is utterly more believable than the human elements of this movie (Beth was impaled on a steel bar, gets pried off and runs 10 miles through the city, yeah right) – wish this could have lived up to it’s potential. The realness/grittiness of the visuals is ruined by the absurdity of the story.

All of these Negative-Nancy reviews are killing me. I thought the movie was wonderful. The camera shaking really wasn’t that bad, especially not as bad as Blair Witch. After about ten minutes, I had gotten used to it. The story was a bit far fetched at times, but never totally unfathomable.

I think the best part was that it was suspenseful nearly the entire film. Not scary, but suspenseful. I sat covering my mouth in shock through at least eighty percent of the movie.

I am hoping to go see it again soon to pick up on some of the more obscure “hints” if you will.

I came here from Dawg’s, and I left a comment there wondering why everyone’s so pushy about getting others to go see the movie, then I click on the link to you and you DID THE EXACT SAME THING.

It’s either a conspiracy or it should be.

  23. Brett on January 23, 2008 at 12:14 pm

So I should have stayed through the credits…

Saw it Friday night and although a good movie. The hand held camera point of view, made me want to vomit! The movie tho, pretty good.
