Lost

The first sign of trouble was when the first hour of the two hour season premiere turned out to be a clip show! Ugh!

But the show was kinda meh, right? I was hoping for more. These boat people better not be like the Others of last season and be all mean to the islanders for no good reason and not tell us anything.

Jacob intrigues me though. We need more of him! It?

  1. Word has it there are only 8 episodes in the can, done before the writers’ strike. Best to enjoy them while they last.

And of course, I’m sure they’ll box those 8 episodes later, call it “Season 4″, and charge $49.95 for them.

  2. I was actually ok with the first episode. I have learned a long time ago that the first several episodes are going to move at a glacial pace. Like all Lost episodes it only raised more questions. They are good crack dealers that is all I have to say.

I know it’s gonna go slow, but I still yelled at the screen when Hurley asked Locke NOTHING about the scary cabin…come on!

  4. I think since we’ve had to breathlessly wait since last May for the premiere, then there was no way the first episode was going to live up to our expectations. Ryan is right, there are only 8 episodes completed, and since even if the strike ended today, they would not be able to get the production back up in running to complete the season, you might as well savor each and every episode we do get.

Brianna> I think it is in character for Hurley not to ask Locke about the Cabin, because Hurley considered it to be a psychotic episode. He wouldn’t tell the cop his vision (keeping it spoiler free as possible), and he just doesn’t want people to see him as a loon.

  5. I was frustrated too Brianna, but Nick makes a good point!

  6. Me again :-)

I usually read this first thing in the morning, but I got distracted until now. If you do not already read the Doc Jensen LOST reviews at Entertainment Weekly, you definitely should!

I have the link, and I’m going to try some HTML here, I’m not sure if the comments take it.

yeah, that’s true Nick. **sigh** just so used to them not stating obvious discussion points that I get frustrated : )

    Still love the show though!

  8. Please no spoilers. I have to wait to see it on InnerTube this weekend.

  9. Exactly! At this point, you have to be grateful for what you can get. Soon there won’t be any new episodes left of anything except “Make Me a Supermodel”!

Coincidentally, if you like playing Marry, Fuck, Kill, this one is devoted to “Lost” today. MFK: Lost Edition

  10. Did you catch who that was sitting in “Jacob’s” chair? It’s not who you would assume (ie Jacob)… it’s someone’s father…. Someone’s father in a suit… it’s……

    Christian Shepherd!!!
    AHH!!!
    Seriously though……

  11. Maybe I’m such a die-hard fan that I’ve lost the ability to be critical (although I did hate last season’s six episode pod) but I really enjoyed the premiere. I’m excited for the next seven episodes, I think the flash forwards have injected a new vitality to the show, and I want to know why Kate isn’t in prison upon returning home. (Of all the questions being asked about the flash forwards–why does Jack imply his father is alive? who was in the coffin at the funerl home?–no one is asking how Kate, who was on her way back to the States to serve time for murdering her father is a free woman. I don’t think surviving a plane crash gives you a “get out of jail free” card.

I Love, Love, LOVE Lost. However, I have yet to watch all of the premiere episodes because I was SO aggravated by the extremely annoying, condescending pop-ups in the beginning. It’s bad enough when you have a little character pop up, run across the screen, say “hey!” to let you know what’s coming up. But to have continuous insipid commentary at the bottom (“Oh, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride!” ) was horrible beyond belief.

That said, I’m looking forward to more of Jacob & more Locke. Did you see Terry O’Quinn win the Emmy? I’m so bummed I missed it.
