Scary Movie

A genre of movies I don’t talk about much on here is horror, but I really do enjoy a good horror movie every now and then. There’s nothing like turning out all the lights and having the crap scared out of you. What’s the scariest movie I’ve ever seen, you ask? Event Horizon. It’s an awful, awful movie, but it’s still the scariest movie on the face of the planet. Anyway, I haven’t seen one a good scary movie in a while, and this looks pretty darn good:

It opens in limited release this Friday, and I’m hoping to catch it. It looks like it has an indy, 28 Days Later (which I haven’t seen, but that doesn’t stop me from making bold comparisons!) kinda feel to it.

  1. This sounds a lot like Stephen King’s Cell, where one day, everyone who used a cellphone just became violently angry. Great read.

Yeah, Event Horizon gave me the creeps and it’s still pretty damn bad. Go figure. For most of the entire film, NOTHING happens. And yet you’re all tense and u just know it in your bones that something horrible will happen. or might happen. anytime now. omg. -bites nails-.

  3. Okay so, I watched this preview without sound, right? And like, it doesn’t make any sense that way. I’m all “Why is everyone hitting eachother with bats and stuff?”

  4. I saw Even Horizon in the theaters twice. I’m that much of a dork, but it’s really is scary! Also bad!

  5. O Craig…craig..craig…Event Horizon is the scariest movie you’ve ever seen…This is sad…Leave the horror movies to me, Ill show you some good ones and you show me some good sci-fi! What is this Star Trek movie Im hearing about?!

  6. Looks good…Avitable is right, though, it does look like a rip off of Cell.

I had to imdb Event Horizon to see what it was and I remember seeing it but I don’t remember the actual film. And it’s sad since I’m a huge lover of horror films and we’re even studying horror in class right now. The best recent horror movie is hands down, “The Descent”. Nothing beats that wonderfully scary movie. It gave me chills for a while and beats any J-horror. Please go and watch the Descent.

  8. Havent seen the Descent yet…It looks pretty good. Personally I recommend “Hatchet,” its old school horror.

  9. “The Signal” looks darn good — I spotted a preview for it a few weeks go. I like the low-budget look of it.

But, yeah, I’m with Avitable — it looks like Stephen King’s The Cell.

  10. Event Horizon scared the CRAP out of me when I saw it in the theater.

    “Be with us… forever!”
