1. Is anyone else watching (and loving) Sarah Connor Chronicles? It’s so good! IO9’s article talking about how this show wants to be Battlestar Galactica got me thinking. What if Cameron is some sort of human/terminator hybrid? And what if the half human part of Cameron is really Sarah Connor DNA? Dun dun duuuuuun! Come on! You know it makes sense! And not just because they’re both brunettes! In the future, the evil terminators could have engineered a Sarah Connor hybrid-terminator to use against John Connor. Wouldn’t that be smart of them? Create a weapon that thinks and looks like the mother of your biggest enemy. And think about it: They’ve been keeping Cameron’s model number under wraps and said that she’s a completely new model to the franchise. This would take the show to a place the Terminator films haven’t gone before, and I think a lot of people’s gripes with the show is that it’s basically been a Terminator 2 and 3 redux. Why don’t I work in Hollywood again?
2. Definitely the highlight of the Oscars was being introduced to this song, which I completely adore now and have listened to it a gajillion times. For those of you who didn’t see the Oscars, it’s called “Falling Slowly” by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova and it’s from the movie Once, which I immediately added to my Netflix queue.
3. I’m sorry NefariousCarrot, I know its your favorite book and all, but I’m sad to report that I’m giving up on Lilith for now. I say “for now” in the hopes that I will go back and finish it. But how many times have you actually finished a book after putting it down? Oh man, “putting it down” sounds awful, as if I took the book out back and shot it. In this case it’s more like I impaled it with a lightsaber since the new Star Wars book came out yesterday and I’ll be reading that instead while giving everyone that “don’t judge me!” look on the train.

Sarah Connor has been surprisingly good if you can train yourself to be blind to the logical issues. I’m definitely enjoying all of the layers they’re adding to the Terminator mythos.

I watched the first episode, and just couldnt get into it (despite the hot guys). HOwever, Torchwood continues to blow me away! Order those on your Netflix queue if you can’t BBC America. I’m telling ya, I’m all about Torchwood now!
HUGS…

yes! see Once - i saw it in the theaters last year and loved it so much. i think it’ll get to you - in a good way! and the soundtrack is awesome, too.

Video is gone already.
Alas, I was too drunk by the time this came on to remember it. Though I did predict it would win…:-)
I too am enjoying Sarah, but I do have to say it has some major issues with continuity, and by that, I mean within it’s own TV universe. I really only have seen Terminator 2!

1. I caught a bit of it one night last week while channel surfing and they had nekkid guys so it’s all good to me.
2. Yes, loved it.
3. Can books be euthanized?

I switched YouTube videos from the one at the Oscars to the one from the movie. Hopefully that will stay up.

Aw, it’s okay! I’ll shed a single tear for Lilith, and I’ll hold a nice vigil for the book you’ve impaled with a lightsaber, complete with “Never Forget” signs and candles.
I’ll have to check out the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I’ve been meaning to watch a few episodes, if only because of Katee.

go ahead and buy the Once soundtrack — you will want to listen to it on repeat after you see the movie. . .
February 27th, 2008 at 11:22 am
I already bought it. It’s now the music I fall asleep to on the train when I’m too tired to read Star Wars. Out with the old (Juno soundtrack) and in with the new (Once soundtrack)!

The Sarah Conner Yawnicles.

Once! So glad that my fervent passion for this film is finally catching on!

I can’t bring myself to even DVR Sarah Connor Chronicles. Is it really that good???

I am very impressed with SCC….I think they are really working on a many layered story and HOPE that they aware of BSG too.
February 27th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
SCC is alright, my main problem with it is the actress playing Sarah. Sarah was one of the ultimate badass chicks and this woman looks nothing like her and just isn’t badass at all so far int he series. She kicks ass but not in a badass way at all.
Still there is something going on with Cameron. The popular theory is that she is Skynet in Terminator form, or a part of Skynet that is trying to understand humans. I dunno though, the hybrid thing is kind of cheesy and now overdone since BSG has done it(and done it well).

Once is so good! It’s just a simple little film, but when I watched them perform at the Oscars, it brought back the emotions and I thought, now that’s a sign of a good movie. I really liked Enchanted but I was hoping Once would win because that song is so much more awesome!

SCC has me hooked in fear. I love the recapping and reworking of the history and the idea of fate-vs-freewill. However, I fear that the show will be canceled before it can go through this puberty stage and become a great show.
You have been rubbing off on me Craig, or Mr. Pun. I will call you Mr. Pun! So I have neglected Star Wars as bad sci-fi for far too long. I bought the films, watched them in numerical order and enjoyed them so much that I bought the Lego Star Wars game. It is not on the same level as certain films that focus on technology, the greater-good, and man’s ethics–but it explores them all with action and drama which is fun.
Also on the Ocars–let me rub off on you (that sounded dirty)–anyway, rent La Vie en Rose if you haven’t seen it, also go see Marrion in Love Me If You Dare co-starring with a beautiful French male lead…then see that male lead in a wonderful and visually stunning sci-fi/action/mystery film Vidocq.

I totally agree on the Cameron / Sarah hybrid, but I also thought when the crazy Doctor read the Bible verse about a wolf in sheep’s clothing, (before stabbing the FBI guy in the leg) that maybe Cameron is the “Wolf in Sheeps Clothing”. After all she did save that chip from the terminator she “terminated” . Should she be trusted???

I also liked Enchanted, thought it was one of the best movies of the year, but Once was such a lovely movie, so beautifully done. This award and the subsequent publicity will do so much more for these deserving artists, than just another Oscar for the very talented (and very wealthy) Enchanted team.

You know, I had a thought very close to your’s, only I have wondered if Cameron is based on Adult John’s wife or maybe even his child. This is based on the way Cameron looks at John. There seems to be a level of adoration in that look that is only matched in my life when my dogs greet me after work. They know I will give them scooby snacks if I feel loved.
Don’t you fucking judge me!!!!

Once is an AMAZING movie.
It also has an amazing soundtrack that I listen to all the time.
I was so glad it won at the Oscars!
Oh, and turn the subtitles on before you watch it. haha.

Mmm… I love this song.
