Netflix #11 – The Simpsons Movie – Suggested by Tom
This was totally fun, with some really great laugh out loud moments. The Simpsons always works best when it takes advantage of being a cartoon. Sometimes I feel like they forget that they’re a cartoon and they write it like a regular, wacky sitcom, which doesn’t really work. I love when it goes completely over the top and does stuff that live action shows could never do. My favorite moment was Homer on the dog sled: “Rest! Rest!” My only complaint was that they didn’t do enough with the secondary characters like Mr. Burns and Smithers. And what? No aliens?!
Netflix #12 – Waitress – Suggested by Nick, Drew, Maggie, and digkv
Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Just kidding! I bet Nick almost jumped through the computer monitor to strangle me. But seriously, how could anyone not fall in love with this movie? Keri Russell was incredible. That scene were she goes around smiling for five minutes straight was adorable. It made me want to watch August Rush. Has anyone seen that? How was it? And who doesn’t love Nathan Fillion? I was really sad every time Adrienne Shelly was on screen though. But then they showed a pie, and I was happy again. But then I didn’t get to eat the pie, and I was sad again. But then the movie was so good, and I was happy again.
PS – I am so incredibly excited about one of the movies I’m getting this weekend. It’s a movie from the past three years that I can’t believe I never got a chance to see. It practically screams: “Craig! Watch me! You will love me!” Leave your guesses as to which movie it is. Correct guesses will win my love and adoration.
Is it “I Know Who Killed Me” starring Lindsey Lohan?
“Barbie in The Twelve Dancing Princesses”?
Loved Waitress. Loved it.
Need more hints…
Okay fine, it was a 2007 movie.
Transformers?
Hmmm…I would bet you’ve seen Stardust, so in keeping with sci-fi, I would guess either Southland Tales or The Nines.
Dan – Nope. Saw it at a sneak preview the night before it opened. Loved it.
FDot – Nope. Loved Stardust, it’s one of my favorite movies from last year. Never saw and no interest in seeing Southland Tales or The Nines.
You should really see Dan In Real Life.
It’s a cute movie. I was at Blockbuster and remembered you talking about the movie Waitress and I bought it for $5 bucks, although I’ve not been able to find time to watch it yet.
As for the movie you haven’t seen yet…hmmm Ratatouille?
Burner – I added Dan in Real Life to my queue. It has a wait though.
No on Ratatouille. Everyone loved it, but I never had an urge to see it. Maybe someday.
My guesses:
Music & Lyrics
300
The Last Mimzy
TMNT
Spider-Man 3
Pirates 3 (At World’s End)
Drew:
Music & Lyrics – No. But will add to my queue because I forgot I wanted to see that.
300 – No. Saw it and liked it.
The Last Mimzy – No. Saw it and thought it was REALLY wierd.
TMNT – No. But might add that to my queue. The jury is still out.
Spider-Man 3 – No. Saw it. Hated it just like the other Spiderman movies.
Pirates 3 (At World’s End) – No. Saw it. Thought it was even worse than the 2nd one which I thought was terrible.
Porn, it has gotta be porn….
I agree with you on P3 and SM3, they sucked, but I thought they were good guesses.
Hmmm….this may be a tough one for me. Any more clues, like narrow it down to a genre? Or what part of 2007 it came out?
Music and Lyrics will make you want to scratch your eyes out at it’s hideousness. Save yourself.
Another Hint: It made over $100 million in the domestic box office.
Surely not Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!
Definitely not! That took it’s place as my 2nd favorite Harry Potter movie after Prisoner of Azkaban.
All the movies I can think of grossed over $100 million. I’m giving up.
Order took the place of my favorite. Azkaban is my least favorite of the films so far. Cuarón really screwed that film up. GoF takes my second place…but 1st place in the books.
My next guess, after my little HP rant, would be Black Snake Moan? If you haven’t seen this…ADD it to your queue like immediately.
Your least favorite?! Blasphemy!
No on Black Snake Moan, but will add it to my queue.
Knocked up?
I’m at work and bored…thats why I keep guessing. This is the only entertainment I shall have until I can safely pull out the dvd player and watch Arrested Development.
Superbad
or
Beowulf?
You’re a mean man, Mr. Craig
I’m glad you liked it!
Burner – I’m glad I can keep you entertained! I’m not nearly as funny as Arrested Development though!
No, it’s not Knocked Up. I saw it and liked it.
GoKitty – No to Superbad. I saw it and was unimpressed.
No to Beowulf, but it’s already on my queue.
Nick – I’m wonderful.
My next round of guesses:
Wild Hogs
Juno
Enchanted
I Am Legend
I’ll give it another shot myself……the only film I can think of that Burner hasn’t already mentioned is Hairspray.
Shrek the Third?
Burner – How dare you suggest that I would ever watch Wild Hogs! I’ll just attribute that poor guess to just listing all movies that grossed over $100 million.
You got it right with Enchanted. I’m so excited! And slightly girly!
Yay!!! I win! *awaits love and adoration now*
And yes, you are right…I was looking a list getting the movies off of there.
Although I did see it. ::hides:: It sucked though.
Enchanted is a great movie. James Marsden is extremely funny in it — not hilarious, but really funny. A great take on the old stranger-in-a-strange-land premise. Cheeky fun. Just ignore the dragon scene.
Even as a straight guy, I applaud your choice.
And I was going to say “300″. Shows you what I know.
Enchanted?
My roomie, who I share the netflix queue with, moved it to #1 recently and I moved it back down. oi vey
Burner – I am currently showering you with love and adoration. That burning sensation you’re feeling is totally normal.
I too loved Enchanted, and I saw it back to back with Sweeney Todd. Two movies with Timothy Spall in them in one day!
Yay for Enchanted!! As others have said, it’s a really good time. And James Marsden can’t help but be dreamy …
I’m sad about your pre-take on Ratatouille, though! It really is a pretty remarkably excellent movie. Excellent script and amazing visuals … but we expect nothing less from Pixar nowadays, right?
August Rush is fabulous! You will fall in love with the little kid (not in a kinky way!), and really be swept away by the magic of this film. Jonathon Rhys Myers is hot and sexy, and his eyes are not all buggy and drugged-out like you see in all the paparazzi pics, and he’s even sexier when he sings–oooh—I might have to purchase this one!!!
Where can i see the script of the barbie in the twelve dancing princesses?
