Teach Me Something Tuesdays will be back next week. Today I will show you some vacation pictures! As you know me, Robin, and Jenn went to Providence, Rhode Island for Memorial Day weekend.

They must have known we were coming.

Our first day in Providence can be summed up with the phrase: “Which hotel did we book ourselves at again?” So here is Robin figuring out that very question.

Here I am posing for a “candid” shot while Robin figures out where we’re staying. We both have our uses! Robin figures stuff out. Craig looks pretty.

And Jenn is the sensible one. Just not in this picture.

Here I am walking down the river that runs through Providence.

And what do you know! Aaron ended up meeting us there the next day!

The gang is all together! This was on Saturday night, when Providence held the Water-Fire event.

They lit over 100 fires down the middle of the river and played music and it was really pretty.

Here’s Robin and Jenn.

Me, Aaron, and Jenn. I’m not sure what emotions we’re all trying to convey, but I’m pretty sure they’re all different.

And I had lots of fun taking nighttime pictures with my new camera.

Lots of fun.

The next day we spent in Newport, Rhode Island.

Here I am as the kids say: “maxin and relaxin”. Wait, the kids don’t say that? Oh.

Here’s Robin breaking all the rules.

Here’s Jenn playing with a monkey.

We walked the trail to the top of some cliff by the beach. Here I am up top (LOL: top).

Here I am after I took some magic potion and towered over all the tiny mortals.

We found this tree that Aaron thought would be fun to climb. Here he is trying get up.

Then Robin tried.

Then Jenn tried.

Then Robin tried again.

And here they are. These pictures don’t really show the amount of energy it took to get on that damn tree.

Then we asked a passerby to take a picture of the four of us. But we didn’t want him to have to wait 20 minutes for me to make my way up there so I just stood there.

The End.

Welcome back! I admire your dedication to the art of photography — faithfully recording the tree-climbing event instead of giving anyone a boost.

Potion? I thought you already towered over us mortals?
Looks like you had fun.
May 27th, 2008 at 6:53 am
D’oh! John beat me to what I was going to say. That’ll teach me to wait until 6:45am to visit the site.
Aaron was verrry cunning. (”Hmm, something’s going to go wrong with the hotel, so I think I’ll just show up post-stress…”)

“Craig looks pretty”…and some people twice your age haven’t figured out their place in the world yet.
Don’t know what emotions you three were going for, but frankly, you all look like you’re trying to pick up a trick.
Glad you had fun!
HUGS…

Teach Me Something Tuesday lives on:
That’s Ochre Court you’re towering in front of.
It was built in 1892 and is currently owned by Salve Regina University.
I love Cliff Walk, but I refused to pay the crackloads of cash they ask for to tour the homes on the inside.
Great pictures! You guys look like you enjoyed yourselves.

This is the first time you’ve posted photos in which you actually look your height!

Aw it looked so pretty and romantic at night. i’d think of more clever comments but I think I might still be drunk at work.
May 27th, 2008 at 10:42 am
No one’s commenting on the shorts? How come?
May 27th, 2008 at 10:51 am
I was considering commenting on the shorts, but then I realized I’m wearing a pink Star Wars t-shirt and decided I shouldn’t throw stones…

Awww, adorable. You’re candid shot is so collegiate, like a brochure. Distracted by the profundity of his own thoughts, Craig is shown staring off into the distance, completely forgetting the personal electronic device, the name of his hotel, perhaps even his own name. This could be you! Enroll today!”

I like the shorts. They show off some nice gastrosoleus in picture 5.
May 27th, 2008 at 11:24 am
The shorts are like the summer version of argyle. Get ready to see lots of pairs in lots of colors.

What a wholesome bunch you all are! Esp like the potion pic.

LOL: The End.

Oy. (thanks, though)

Awww your outfits are very cute! Are you sure you’re not an Orange County, CA boy?
May 27th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Yay!
May 27th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
OMG, these photos are funny. And b/c I have the maturity level of a 9 year old boy, I especially like the no poop photo.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
Looks like real fun.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
I just laughed again at that tree sequence.
I’m such a dork.

Welcome back Craig! Sometimes, it looked cold on your trip. I hate cold.
May 27th, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Nice photos Craig! Thanks for sharing. What model camera did you get? If I recall correctly the dsc file name prefix was used by Sony cameras. I was in Providence for a benefit show and a video shoot in the the winter. Unfortunately I did not have much time to explore, but I did recognize the hanging lights in the street. It seemed like an interesting place when I was there, but it was cold at the time.

oh, Providence!!! The whole time I was thinking Provincetown, and while I have never been to Provincetwon I was sitting here thinking, wow, I never thought Provincetown was that big! It took me an embarassingly long time to realize that it was Providence. Doy.

“Robin figures stuff out. Craig looks pretty.” I can’t stand it, how do you look so cute in every pic and I look so dorky in every pic i’ve ever been in.
I’m nursing my “Memorial Day Sunburn”, hope U din’t get one.
May 28th, 2008 at 7:38 am
Ya’ll look so cute.
May 28th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Glad you guys and gals had fun over the Memorial Day weekend, and I’m glad you got a new camera.

Heather - What’s the fun of taking pictures if they’re not of people struggling?

How beautiful! I love Newport and I went walking by those exact places this winter, except a nor’easter was coming in and I was wearing thin pajama pants. It was an amazing walk.
Your blog is so adorable! Wish I lived closer to NYC.

That river you walk along is the Providence River, which is the confluence of the Moshasuck and Woonasquatucket rivers.
The fountain is the Bajnotti Fountain, it was a memorial to the guy wife. It’s a very beautiful fountain, here it is on a bright day:

Providence is an awesome city. It’s got a ton of history behind it, considering it was founded in 1636, making it 372 years old. You should have checked out Benefit St with all the old Colonial homes, the Atheneum, etc.
