Here’s hoping that tonight’s episode is better than last week!

Let’s discuss Battlestar Galactica in the comment section, shall we?

Since you are as big a geek as I am, I must ask: What do you think of this season so far? I’m not liking it as much. Maybe it’s because LOST was amazing this season and the law states that BSG and LOST must alternate awesomeness each season.
So say we all.

Really? I’ve been loving this season for the most part. The episode with Roslin bonding with her fellow cancer patient and the river was one of my favorites of the series. And I’m totally fascinated with everything the cylons have been up to and the civil war going on between them. Surprisingly the storyline I feel that is most lacking is the four hidden cylons. They just kinda stand around talking about how they’re cylons all the time. Last week’s episode was definitely on par with the bad episodes of seasons past, like Black Market and Woman King. I think they were just trying to push through some storylines without thinking about them propoerly.
I loved io9’s article on the episode:

I think they’ll be back on track tonight. At least I hope so!

I think this season might potentially be the best so far… However, I so agree on last week’s episode. I almost stopped watching it was so slow and… somehow unengaging. Nothing new happened in it. All of it could have been compressed into like… five-ten minutes. It was obvious Lee was gonna be president and we all know how much his dad loves Roslin. And you’re right about the passive-aggressive side of him. He did it twice, almost beat people up and then forgave them in the end.
June 6th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Yes! He was so mean to Hera. And was it me, or was his voice especially growly last week?
And if Lee is president now, does that make him the dying leader that will lead humanity to Earth as described in the scriptures?
Probably not, I’m sure it’s still Roslin, but you never know with this show!

I think the season started off a touch slowly, but has been gaining momentum the last few episodes. I didn’t hate the last episode, but it could have been done better. They’re trying to set up the pieces for the mid-season cliffhanger and the final 10 episodes; the trouble is, with a finite number of episodes to work with, some arcs that would have played out longer are being highly compressed.
I still think Gaeta will be revealed as the final cylon at this point. It’s looking like the final five arc will be more about getting the fleet to Earth and less about coming to terms with the cylon identity.
June 6th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Gaeta’s a good guess. I used to think (read: pray) that Billy was the final Cylon, only so he would come back to my loving arms. But I’ve given up on that hope.
Then I used to think it was Dee since she was with both Billy and Lee, two people with very high access in the fleet. But where has she been lately?
So I’d say Gaeta is currently your best guess.

I still want Leoben to have been telling Roslin the truth about an Adama being a cylon, and it’d be nicely symmetric for both the new president and the new admiral to be cylons.
Last week was a bit of a miss, yes. It was a whole lot of running in circles just to get back to the obvious answer to their “Hey, who can we get to be president? ¯\(°_o)/¯”
My problem with this season isn’t so much that it’s turned into a big game of Who Can Go Craziest?! [my money’s on Starbuck], but that it just. doesn’t. let. up. At all. Ever. The drama and tension are going at full tilt, all the time. BSG is still my favorite thing on television, but it makes me appreciate shows like Doctor Who where I actually get chances to breathe.

Billy’s in a few movies over on Netflix, so you can get a Paul Campbell fix if you need one.
Dee was in a few episodes of Reaper this spring, so she might have been filming those instead of BSG. I don’t knoewhat else the show can do with her, her arcs with Billy and Lee appear to be done and she’s never had much else storyline.
June 6th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Sorry, I don’t watch BSG, so I got nothing. I’m already full to geek capacity with comic books and Star Trek.
By the LOL BSG Cats sometimes make me chuckle.
HUGS…

“And if Lee is president now, does that make him the dying leader that will lead humanity to Earth as described in the scriptures?” Brilliant!! That’s such a good idea.
I don’t know if it’s right, but it’s really smart! You should be writing the show. haha.
And as for the final cylon, I still think it’s Zack… Especially a few episodes ago when they brought him back up!
But it would be awesome if it was an old character that died (which I would then hope was Billy since I miss him).
And last week was filler!
I hope they’re back on the ship with Roslin this week.

OK, so I don’t watch BSG since I tried, and got totally pissed off by the Prez chic or whoever she is. All I’m sayin is if you are wearing rectangular glasses, you damn well better be tryin to sell me a time share. Plus she looks like my arch-enemy “what’s her name”
June 6th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Tina Fey!!!!!!!!! You will not defeat me!!!!!!
June 6th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Mark: Both Tina Fey and Laura Roslin (the “Prez chic”) are both awesomely awesome.
June 6th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Oooops, sorry Craig, I LOVE yur glasses, I was talkin bout chicks, Rectangular looks Totally HOT on you!
June 6th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
It must be Love! Despite your defense of Laura Roslin and Ugggh! Tina Fey; I still Luv You! Even if you are Tina’s secret weapon I will gladly surrender to you
June 6th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Zack would be kind of a disappointment, but it seems like a good possibility…
June 6th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
I think the season has been great and unpredictable so far.
While last episode with a more of a mash-up, I certainly find a comment about last week’s episode like “slow” and “nothing new happened” to be like a comment from opposite-land. The problem is a whole damn lot happened very quickly.
I have to say, I get annoyed at people when one episode is less than absolutely stellar and they go screaming “ZOMG!!1!! they’ve ruined the best show on television!”. Too many people need Ritalin and are apparently forgetting to take it.
June 7th, 2008 at 12:20 am
atari age: are you actually asking fanboys to think rationally?! That’s ridiculous!
June 7th, 2008 at 11:17 am
CRAIG!
How would you feel if Zack were the final cylon?!?!
June 7th, 2008 at 11:31 am
First off, I didn’t watch yet, so no spoilers from last night’s episode!
Nicky: I would think it was pretty awesome, but how would you explain how he’s Adama’s son? Wouldn’t his parents know if he was a Cylon?
June 7th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
I still think the final one has to be female. I mean, it doesn’t really make sense for the cylons to make seven male ones and five female! It would both be asymmetrical and chauvinistic, not to mention that it would be very much out of character for BSG as a series. They’ve gone to extra lengths to feminise it, they made Starbuck a chick! There really have to be six and six of each sex. So I say either Roslin, Starbuck or Dee.
June 7th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
I just finished watching it. What a great episode!
June 7th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Nanoo nanoo.
That’s BSG speak, right?
June 8th, 2008 at 12:56 am
I think Starbuck and Roslin are both too predictable as the final cylon. I do like Kari’s thinking that it has to be a girl to even the numbers out though…
Guess it’ll have to be Cally or Ellen!!
Remember when Baltar did the test on Ellen and then didn’t reveal her results?!
June 8th, 2008 at 11:26 am
OMG, I thought I was a sci-fi dork, but now I see I am Way behind the times. I’ve spent too much time in my stasis chamber… you guys are aawesome!
June 8th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Yeah… Ellen might actually be one. She did help the Cylons, didn’t she? And Tigh sees her in the captive Caprica Six, right?
June 8th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
I just realized I’m confused-maybe you guys pay closer attention and can help me.
How did Tigh get the prisoner cylon pregnant? I thought that the harvesting female organs episode (where stupid Starbuck was on Caprica) was about how two cylons can’t have a kid together? No?
June 9th, 2008 at 6:43 am
Yeah, that’s interesting. It has yet to be explained.
June 9th, 2008 at 7:11 am
Nicky: the final 5 (or at least the 4) are fundamentally different than the known ones (RDM’s direct statement). So, presumably the standard rules do not apply. Actually, I’m thinking the final 5 are genetic precursors of the colonists. Just my personal theory.
June 9th, 2008 at 7:19 am
atari_age: Agreed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were the ancestors of the colonists. It’s another reason why I like Kari’s theory that the remaining Cylon is a female.
June 9th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Eh? Ancestors of the colonists of Caprica before the Cylon invasion? That confuses me. Wouldn’t they be ancient then?
I thought you meant ancestors of the cylons at first, like the makers of the cylons used those 5 as human experiments during cylon invention research and they’re cylons somehow? But that doesn’t explain how they know Earth.
Now I’m confused and guess I’ll have to wait and see.
