This post is a forum to discuss your outrage over this year’s Emmy nominations. For me, it’s the usual snubbing of Battlestar Galactica in the Acting and Best Drama categories that annoys me the most. Apparently people are upset about The Wire not being nominated as well, but I’ve never seen it. Which nominations (or lack thereof) grind your gears the most?

Or maybe we can just discuss the So You Think You Can Dance eliminations that took place last night instead.

What is this “television” you speak of?
July 18th, 2008 at 9:02 am
What? BSG recieved no nominations? What is it with all the prejudice against science fiction, really?
July 18th, 2008 at 9:08 am
Battlestar Galactica was nominated for Outstanding Single-camera Picture Editing For A Drama Series, Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series, and Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series (for Six of One, which wasn’t even my favorite episode this season. Personally, the episode Faith was my favorite).
Razor got nominated for Outstanding Cinematography For A One Hour Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (one-hour), and Outstanding Special Class - Short-format Live-action Entertainment Programs.
All technical awards, except for the writing one. I can accept the fact that it wasn’t nominated for Best Drama, because of the prejudice against Science Fiction (except LOST for whatever reason). But the fact that Mary McDonnell didn’t get nominated for acting is just ridiculous.

I’m stunned, STUNNED, that Hell’s Kitchen got overlooked.
(Then again, I don’t have a TV, and HK (and Kitchen Nightmares) are pretty much the only tele programs I watch over the net. So maybe those other reality-competition-shows are absolutely fabulous.)

New to your blog, but I am all over SYTYCD like white on rice…OMG, I am shocked Kherrington (no idea if this is spelled right, why can’t people just have normal spelled names) went home. I mean, she isn’t my favorite, but Comfort…oh my god, this girl cannot dance anything but her own style. Her limbs simply do not bend properly. It’s painful. PAINFUL!
July 18th, 2008 at 10:17 am
Kherrington was definitely my favorite of the girls so I’m really sad to see her go home. I’d have to say that Courtney is my new favorite girl now. Comfort is awesome at hip hop, but not much else. She doesn’t bother me as much as she seems to bother other people though.
I ddn’t like Gev at first, but he was really starting to grow on me so I’m sad to see him go. I hope being in the bottom two was a big wake up call for Mark fans! Will has an amazing body but his personality can be a bit blah so i wouldn’t mind if he went home. I like Joshua a lot also, so I hope he stays for a while.

Star Trek was always constantly overlooked in the Acting category so its not surprising BG was - unfortunately. 5 nominations is pretty good for a nonnetwork sf show. Although I didn’t realize that they even had categories like “Outstanding Makeup F Outstanding Single-camera Picture Editing For A Drama Series or A Single-camera Series (non-prosthetic)”
Lost benefits from being on a main network and being the top 10. I was pleased that Michael Emerson was nominated for Best Supporting but upset that Terry O’Quinn wasn’t for Best Actor again.
Ted Levine should have been nominated for Monk and it’s a crime that Vincent D’Onofrio hasn’t ever been nominated for Law & Order CI.

I am pretty upset with the outstanding comedy noms, since my two faves, Ugly Betty and Pushing Daisies, aren’t on there…..
Well at least America got a best actress nomination and Pushing Daisies got a few too (acting, directing, hairstyling, costumes, music, writing… lol)
July 18th, 2008 at 11:44 am
Nicky: Pushing Daisies was by far my favorite new show last year. I’m willing to let the lack of an Outstanding Comedy Series nomination slide since they got so many other nominations (including Kristin Chenoweth! YAY!) and it’s such hard show to describe as either Comedy or Drama. Where is the Dramedy category when we need it?
July 18th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Yeah, it is kind of hard to categorize. I really hope Kristin Chenoweth wins though. She’s perfect for Olive!
Did you hear about the Wicked movie?! They didn’t cast yet, but I wonder if they’ll ask Kristin to star…
July 18th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
I never saw Wicked
Aren’t I terrible?
July 18th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
I didn’t either! lol.
I’m just worried they’ll take her away to shoot the movie and she’ll have less time for PD!
Did you hear anything about the new season?! About what she does with the huge secret she learned in the finale (that was an awesome secret IMO!)?
July 18th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
The best shows almost never get nominated.
July 18th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
TwoPi, Hell’s Kitchen is the best! If you had tv and cable you could also watch Gordon’s UK Kitchen Nightmares which are just as good as the US ones. I make it a habit to drink alot of beer and watch Hell’s Kitchen. I recommend the same to all the Puntabulous readers!
July 18th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
also, would someone please explain to me what is up with all these damn cats, i just don’t get it!
July 18th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Hayden: the cats are based off the hugely popular site lolcats.com

No Jon and Kate plus 8? They should win an Emmy award for Outstanding Cuteness.
Glad the hilarious Kathy Griffin was nominated. Love, love, love her.
July 18th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Jon shouldn’t win an Emmy, he should be canonized. That woman doesn’t have issues, she has a subscription.
July 18th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
I missed last nights SYTYCD elimations and just read it here. I really liked Kherington and am surprised. Comfort had her chance and got lucky to return but she should be gone. Oh and I enjoyed your sparkler pictures. Your family looks fun.
July 18th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
john: Kate definitely needs a chill pill (or a prescription to go along with her subscription). I agree - Jon is a saint.
July 18th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Summer: I hope we didn’t spoil it for you!
John and Michelle M: Who are Jon and Kate? I’m assuming Jon Stewart, but I can’t figure out who Kate is.
July 18th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Craig: Jon and Kate are a couple who are the subject of a TLC “reality series” about their family. They have 8 children, a set of twins and sextuplets. The opening sequence is worth watching just to see how freakishly enormous Kate’s belly was when she was pregnant.
To call Kate a control freak is an understatement. She rides Jon (and I don’t mean in the good way) incessantly and he seems to take it in stride. I only watched one episode (when they planned a birthday party for the kids) because I couldn’t take her.
July 20th, 2008 at 3:02 am
I loved Kherington too, it wasn’t her time to go! I really like Cum-squirt… I mean Comfort, but she’s definitely had the weekest set on Wednesday. Her solos are awesome, but she’s not very versatile, while the rest of the dancers seem to do so I welll that I can’t tell which style of dance they specialize in. She suffered from a little disease I like to call “Parker Posey Syndrome”, she was “hired, fired, and hired again”.
I was just as dissapointed to see Gev go, I would way rather see Will or Joshua go home. I can’t stand how cocky Will is, just like Danny last season. Joshua isn’t so bad but I argue with me friends every week because they think he’s buff’d and great looking. He’s neither of those things.
July 20th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
I don’t watch television, but then I’m choosy. A friend recommended “The Big Bang Theory” a few months ago and I’ve been hooked every Monday since. It’s adorkable. The writing is funny and sharp and the actors are perfect. The fact that it did not receive any nominations (at least in categories anyone pays attention to) reveals what’s wrong with the Emmys and Hollywood in general. “30 Rock” gets a zillion nominations because it’s a self-absorbed, unfunny show about self-absorbed, unfunny Hollywood. That other nominated horror, “Two and a Half Men,” is about as funny as testicular cancer. Charlie Sheen playing a whoremongering crackhead? What a stretch!
Well, those are my rants.
As for any scifi programs, they just aren’t on Emmy’s radar, so get used to it. The only nominations, let alone wins, I can ever recall were for acting on X-Files.
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Guess what kick ass show did get nominated? That’s right! Just as long as Kathy Griffin doesn’t beat us this year, I’ll have my first Emmy next time I see you.
