Inama Nushif
This is a clip from the SciFi miniseries Children of Dune. The movie was good, but the music by Brian Tyler was even better. Here’s a montage scene that takes place towards the end of the first act of the movie depicting the birth of the twins, fathered by the main character of the series, who is seen meditating. As you can tell, George Lucas borrowed buttloads from the Dune series, including the desert planet all this takes place on. The song is called “Inama Nushif” and is now used in a lot of movie trailers.
If you need another reason to watch this miniseries, take note that after this scene, it jumps ahead several years, and one of the twins is played by a young (and often shirtless) James McAvoy as seen HERE and HERE.

Wow. I’ve never seen the series or read the book(s), so I have no idea what’s really going on — but even then, the mix of imagery and music is pretty powerful. I’ve been told over and over again that I need to watch the SciFi Dune miniseries, but I keep putting it off (Season 2 of Heroes is next on my docket).
Now I’m going to head to iTunes and see if this Dune soundtrack is there so I can check it out.

Pretty mellow music there. And no father should get to sit quietly and meditate during the birth of his child(ren). He has to be right there so you can swear at him and tell him how this is all his fault and how could he do this to you. That’s the way it works. Trust me (until the drugs kick in then all is good with the world). Am I the only one who felt sorry for the guy buried alive? Maybe he was a bad guy. I’ve never seen Dune though it seems to be on our Space channel fairly regularly I think.

I own both the first miniseries and this one on DVD and have yet to watch either of them. I guess I hould bump them up to the top of the watch now list.
I don’t recognize the song though, what trailers has it been used in?

Howard isn’t the only mind that is being invaded…
I am in the middle of rereading Dune for 20th time. I own the miniseries (which is fantastic) and the David Lynch movie (which isn’t fantastic) and I just watched the Children of Dune miniseries. The Dune series is my favorite science fiction series of all time and it is a bit of an obsession at times.
Dave S.: You *must* watch the mini series or read the book. It is so amazing. FDot, you too.

I read several of th books about 15 years ago, and have seen the movie, but I have no idea what the hecks going on here! Can someone tell me what the floating thing is inside the glass? And what are the putting that cute half naked guy in that stone coffin? I guess I should have read more of the books, eh?
HUGS…

The thing floating in the tank is a Spacing Guild Navigator. The guy going in the coffin is a Fremen who betrayed the Muad’Dib.
Polt: watch the minis series if you get a chance. There is plenty of eye candy in it for everyone.

FYI: I just updated the post with a note about James McAvoy.

ooo…James McAvoy…even more of a reason to watch them now. I just saw him in ‘The Pool’ a few weeks ago…ok film, at least he was in a bathing suit for most of it.

Oooh…yes. James McAvoy (drooling as I type). I watched this just a few weeks ago for the 10th time probably. The twins are facinating characters and James rocked his part. Never read the books…thought about it…but decided not to after I read about Leto’s demise and how he transformed into a half worm/half man being…yuck.

Yeah, I’ve only read the first book, and after seeing the second movie, and hearing about what happens to his character, it doesn’t really make me want to keep reading the series, although I know I should, and eventually will.

James McAvoy….shirtless…day-um…what more do I need to hear? What the name of the thing he’s in, so I can order it on Netflix!

Hey! James is Mr. Tumnus!
That role holds a special place in my heart since my son played the same role in a stage version of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. And he got a rousing standing ovation at the curtain call (if I’m allowed to brag…).

He was Mr. Tumnus? Wow, didn’t know. Congrats to your son Dave, a budding star in the making.

I read all the books through Heretics of Dune (yes, Craig, I do have moments of sci-fi fandom). While James McAvoy is a cutie, the actor who plays Paul/Maudib is the one that really pushes my buttons.

McAvoy can come off as quite buff when he wants to. I’m guessing the director of the Narnia flicks asked him to starve for a month before playing Tumnus because he doesn’t come off that way at all in that movie.

Have read all 6 Dune books and they are quite simply the most awesome science fiction novels ever produced. Ever. EVER! I loved the David Lynch movie (didn’t like the sci-fi chanel mini-series). Frank Herbert was actually a consultant on the Lynch film.

I also read all the way up to Heretics of Dune. When I was done I went through spice withdrawl cuz I had no more to read. If you haven’t read the whole series, its very
worth it!! All the characters in the series are golden!!! Just because of this series, Im gonna get me a dog, call her Jessica (Lady Jessica to be more precise), and teach
her to use Voice on command. Book one has the best last line of any book I’ve ever
read. Also, Gurney Halleck = Jean Luc Picard! Nuf said.
