Why aren’t you watching Privileged?

Seriously. It’s such a good show! Much better than that other new show with a one word title. And yeah, it might be harder to spell because you want to throw an extra D in there, but it’s definitely my favorite new show this season. Joanna Garcia as Megan — the wannabe writer and tutor of two spoiled brats in Palm Beach — is the perfect combination of Veronica Mars sass and Amy Adams looks. Michael Cassidy (Zach from The O.C.) is the opposite sex best friend and is looking cuter than ever. And you’ll remember Lucy Hale as the cute little sister in the god awful Bionic Woman remake from last year, and she’s back again as…the cute little sister. The older sister Sage and Megan’s sister Lily can be a bit much at times, but their antagonism is necessary I suppose. Why can’t there ever be a show where everyone just gets along and nothing ever goes wrong? Is that too much to ask? And let’s not forget Marco, the fun gay cook and magical negro always dispensing wonderful words of wisdom as necessary to save our poor rich white girls. Anyway, the show is super fun and geeky, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Megan says “frak” at some point because it’s just that awesome. Give it a shot! It’s online! If you don’t, and it gets canceled, I’ll be coming after you.

Why aren’t I watching? Because we went to see Eagle Eye on your recommendation. So-so. The editors got to have fun making one million millisecond film clips into a 5 minute segement and oh wait, didn’t iRobot do that theme? Maybe because we seem to watch iRobot once a month minimum it kind of stuck out. It was okay for what it was, pure entertainment, but not all that original.

No comment on Privileged. Seems a bit too soapy for my taste.

  • By Craig, October 2, 2008 @ 10:17 pm

Oh totally. It was such a ripoff of I Robot, which was a far superior movie. The editing was just absolutely insane, but I loved that car chase, in all of it’s ridiculousness.

Privileged isn’t really soapy. I’d say it’s much more of a comedy than a drama. Full episodes are available on http://www.cwtv.com/cw-video/privileged if you want to try it out.

    Why aren’t I watching Privileged?
Because I’m watching 90210, The Rachel Zoe Project, Project Runway, Jon and Kate Plus 8, Heroes, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, America’s Next Top Model, The Hills, Best Week Ever, Ace of Cakes, various Oprahs, and Survivor, to name a few (I’m sure I’m forgetting some).
And my time away from tv seems to be spent more and more on this little site called “Puntabulous”. But since you recommend it, I’ll give it a shot *sigh*.

    P.S. In my defense, I also read a lot…

  • By Nicky, October 2, 2008 @ 11:04 pm

I Robot was better than Eagle Eye?! No way.
I will always trust your taste though since you love Pushing Daisies.

    And why aren’t I watching?
I never even heard of this show and I tend to know about a lot of shows!
    They failed at advertising.

  • By Polt, October 2, 2008 @ 11:12 pm

Hmmmm, yeah, yet another tv show you recommend I’m not watching.

I HAVE mentioned, haven’t I, that Torchwood is pretty damn good? Right, haven’t I, right?

    HUGS…

For the love of god man, when do you sleep?

I don’t watch much tv anymore. I am currently watching Project Runway, Family Guy and Heroes and I have trouble keeping up with the three of them. I can’t imagine keeping up with everything you do (plus working and blogging and writing, dude, really when do you sleep?).

When they are running, I also watch Doctor Who and Torchwood (you *have* to watch it at some point). Oh and Regenesis too.

  • By Burner, October 3, 2008 @ 12:21 am

I love this show and have watched it from the start. If you need backup if it gets canceled, let me know.

  • By Dave S., October 3, 2008 @ 6:48 am

I like the fact that the full episodes are online — gives me a chance to check it out without having to start in the middle.

I’ve been getting into “Total Drama Island” lately. Had to miss last night’s new episode due to the debate being on at the same time, but I DVR’d it. :-)

Clone Wars starts tonight, btw. It made an okay movie, but I think it’ll make a cool TV series. As long as that stupid stupid stupid gay Hutt stays away from it. (the most ridiculous character *ever*…)

  • By David, October 3, 2008 @ 7:24 am

Oh, you are so on your own on this one.

  • By Hayden, October 3, 2008 @ 8:07 am

My new goal in life is to stay in bed for a whole weekend with Megan from Priveledged. When this happens my life will be complete.

  • By FDot, October 3, 2008 @ 12:19 pm

Don’t bother asking how my mind managed to take this post about Privileged to this question…..but whatever happened to that housekeeper the Golden Girls had in the pilot episode?

  • By Craig, October 3, 2008 @ 12:42 pm

His character (named Coco, for reals) was dropped in favor of making Sophia a regular character, rather than just a recurring guest spot, as originally anticipated. Clearly a wise decision. Coco!

  • By Tam, October 3, 2008 @ 12:47 pm

The fact that you knew that Craig is slightly scary.

  • By Craig, October 3, 2008 @ 12:55 pm

Behold the (occasionally accurate) power of Wikipedia!

  • By Tam, October 3, 2008 @ 1:11 pm

Okay, I feel better now. If you’d known it just off the top of your head I would be concerned.

  • By Dave S., October 3, 2008 @ 1:51 pm

Golden Girls always kinda creeped me out for some reason…

  • By Craig, October 3, 2008 @ 2:00 pm

John: To answer your question, I’ve managed to save time by just blogging about television. It’s like killing two birds with one stone. My blog sucks lately, but still, it’s efficient!

  • By Dave S., October 3, 2008 @ 2:05 pm

Craig, this blog *so* doesn’t suck lately. I mean, you got us to respond 78 times to a post about starch spoons and pointless marshmallows!

  • By Michelle M., October 3, 2008 @ 2:08 pm

    I second Dave S.

  • By Tam, October 3, 2008 @ 2:10 pm

Yeah, 78 responses to hot chocolates must be some kind of a record. No suckage here.

Betty White was/is adorable though, Bea Arthur not so much.

  • By Craig, October 3, 2008 @ 2:11 pm

Yes, but that’s due to the awesomeness of my readers and not my camera phone picture and two sentences. :-P

  • By Nicky, October 3, 2008 @ 2:27 pm

Yeah, having an awesome following helps. Others spend DAYS photoshopping celebs into backgrounds and get like 5 comments
    : )

    Craig, I have a question…
Any debates soon?! What happened to them?!

  • By polt, October 3, 2008 @ 2:55 pm

    i’ll third Dave S.’s comment.

Rose alway kinda reminded a bit of Mama Polt. She looks a bit like her, but is much much more ‘out there’ than mom…although mom does have her moments.

Hated Dorothy’s fashions on the show, but I LOVE Bea Arthur! She is awesome in whatever she does.

    And don’t forget…she’s also Craigger’s father! :)

    HUGS…

  • By john, October 3, 2008 @ 3:17 pm

Craig: This blog *so* doesn’t suck. The simple fact that so many of your readers comment multiple times a day is testament to that (and don’t give me the “I’m really running a message board.” line either).

There is no way Tam, Dave S., Nicky, Polt, Michelle M. (my secret crush-don’t be afraid), F-Dot, TwoPi and a host of other regulars would waste our time on a sucky blog. Even if it sucked in the good way.

Plus, every post can’t be Super Viagra & Vagina Girl or a Guest Debate. Besides, look how prepared we all are for the arrival our Culcari Overlords (may their arrival be swift and their discipline of us be long, slow and painful)!

Tam: Too true, Betty white is totally adorable!

  • By Craig, October 3, 2008 @ 3:29 pm

Thanks guys. I really appreciate you saying that.

First Tam and Dave S…now John and Michelle M.

    Matches made in Puntabuheaven.

  • By FDot, October 3, 2008 @ 3:31 pm

I had the pleasure of meeting Bea Arthur after a performance of her one-woman show. She walked out of the stage door and all of us assembled there broke into the ‘Miami’ song. She pretended to fall back and yelled out ‘Oh my God, I feel like Madonna!”

  • By Tam, October 3, 2008 @ 3:54 pm

FDot: I always got the impression she was a nice lady but perhaps she intimidated me. As a shortie she always seemed a bit scary with that height.

  • By Nicky, October 3, 2008 @ 4:36 pm

Hey! Why did my comment randomly disappear?! Board moderator?! lol.

  • By Craig, October 3, 2008 @ 4:39 pm

Sorry about that Nicky. It got flagged as spam for some reason. A fun and geeky debate is in the works as we speak. And if you like debates so much, why haven’t you suggested a topic for us to debate?

  • By Michelle M., October 3, 2008 @ 5:00 pm

    Ooh – best Puntabucouple.
Craig and Natalie (what ever happened to her?)
    Dave S. And Tam
    john and Michelle M.
    Super Viagra and Vagina Girl

Wait – this seems more like a vote than a debate…

  • By Michelle M., October 3, 2008 @ 5:05 pm

    Oh yeah,
    Polt and Bea Arthur.

  • By Nicky, October 3, 2008 @ 5:21 pm

Craig – I find that to debate against you, one need be very clever. So I’d rather not ruin the streak of amazing/clever debates.

  • By Tam, October 3, 2008 @ 5:35 pm

Oh Michelle, I am voting for Polt and Bea, that would be a couple to behold Brilliant!

I think Natalie moved into the garage or the basement.

  • By Craig, October 3, 2008 @ 5:51 pm

Yeah, sadly me and Natalie are taking some time apart. She’s currently living in the garage. She’ll be back though.

Nicky: If I only let clever people debate me, I’d never win! Think of a good topic and let me know and we’ll try it out. If it’s not working we’ll call it quits. No pressure.

I’d also like to nominate math geniuses and Super Viagra bakers Heather and TwoPi

  • By Nicky, October 3, 2008 @ 7:05 pm

“we’ll try it out. If it’s not working we’ll call it quits. No pressure.”
Sounds like you’re asking me out on a date.

  • By Michelle M., October 3, 2008 @ 7:13 pm

Nicky, Nicky, Nicky. You are indeed a clever boy.
Now let’s see you take Craig down.

  • By Polt, October 3, 2008 @ 7:56 pm

Nicky’s going down on Craiggers???? Is this a new couple????

Hmm, me and Bea Arthur. Well that would certainly make an uproariously interesting evening of conversation. And while that’s all well and good, I’d prefer to be coupled with the cuteness of Craiggers, the abs of Dave S., or the netherregions of Nicky, who apparently fill out a pair of boxerbriefs very nicely, even though he wont show me a photo of him IN boxer briefs.

Still, of all these options…I think me and Bea Arthur have the best chance of actually happening.

And while that is a smidge disappointing and saddens me in a way…hell, who WOULDN’T wanna spend an evening with Bea and her show biz stories????

    HUGS….

  • By Craig, October 3, 2008 @ 8:02 pm

Nicky, just take a deep breath, bite your lip, and well both get through this.

Michelle, after I read your comment, I checked my email thinking that surely there would be an email from you saying “I was just kidding! I just wanted to build the poor kid’s confidence.” But alas, there was no such email. :-P

  • By Michelle M., October 3, 2008 @ 8:25 pm

I thought it went without saying/emailing…But jeez, obvs.

  • By Nicky, October 3, 2008 @ 9:36 pm

    >: O
Thanks a lot Michelle!! I was confident for one minute, but now I change my mind!

  • By Dave S., October 3, 2008 @ 11:16 pm

Hey, Nicky, if *I* can win a debate with Craig (albeit, just barely), then surely you can!

  • By Dave S., October 3, 2008 @ 11:16 pm

(though admittedly, Craig was much wittier than I…)

  • By Nicky, October 4, 2008 @ 12:00 am

…. You showed those abs! You made Puntabulous history!

And btw, read my new blog entry : ) I’m fond of it.
