Kath and Kim - Not Bad!

Alright so did anyone else watch the Kath and Kim premiere tonight? I know it got terrible reviews and everything, but I liked it! It made me laugh out loud a bunch of times. Even more than the once again mediocre The Office this week. And yes, my complete and utter devotion to Molly Shannon might have an effect on my judgment, but if you watched it, you’d see how ridiculous and kinda awesome it was. I can watch Molly Shannon run screaming around a mall all day if I could. Did you know that Superstar is my happy movie? Well it is. And I even watched that Cracking Up show she did on Fox with Jason Schwartzman a few years back, before it was canceled after like 5 episodes. This will probably get canceled too. But I’ll enjoy it while it lasts. Yay Molly!

I didn’t see it [*sad face*], but the Washington Post gave it a good review! YAYz!

  2. Howard says:

Cam & I recorded it but haven’t had a chance to watch.

  3. Camille says:

Laughed out loud. I kid you not. Loved Selma. The guys who played their men were great. Molly was really funny — a little muggy for my taste.

  4. Matthew says:

Australia gets to see it on Sunday night. It will be interesting to see how well it holds up to an Australian who has seen the original Australian series. I don’t expect it to be the same but hopefully it is worth watching it.

  5. David says:

I’m still reading your blog. Just waiting for something I can actually comment about.

  6. Dave S. says:

Damn. I wanted to catch it, but didn’t realize it premiered last night. :-( Molly is typically hilarious, so I expected it to be at least moderately awesome. I wonder if it’s on iTunes…

  7. Dave S. says:

    Craig: Define “happy movie.” :-?

  8. Craig says:

Happy Movie = Movie I watch when I’m sad to make me happy.

  9. Tam says:

I feel the need to comment but have nothing useful to add. Ummmm. Half day of work for me today combined with a long weekend. That makes me happy. :-)

  10. Dave S. says:

Ahh. Then my happy movie would definitely be Starship Troopers. Gets me up when I’m feeling down.

Do you want to know more?

  11. Tam says:

Dave: We always want to know more. Do share.

  12. Dave S. says:

Actually, that’s a line from the movie:

Join the mobile infantery and save the world !
    Service guarantees citizenship.
Would you like to know more ?

Actually several lines — it’s a phrase that’s repeated in propoganda commercials throughout the movie. Hilarious.

  13. Dave S. says:

But I can always tell you more. ;-)

Oh, and, Tam, CYE in a minute or two…

I feel like I’m posting the same comment each day, but no, I didn’t watch this. I DID however watch the SNL Weekend Update on Thursday at 9:30. Lurved it, I did! Laughed out loud at several points….and who could have imagined anyone could put Hall & Oates even further over the top than they already were?

Oh, and by the way, Torchwood is pretty good too (drink up, kids!) :)

    HUGS…

  15. Tam says:

Tell me more or show me more? ;-) CYE back.

Its been a looooong time since I saw Starship Troopers. I watch Nightmare Before Christmas when I need to get happy because who doesn’t LOVE Jack Skellington. Even wore my Jack hoodie today.

  16. Avitable says:

I saw the first few minutes and enjoyed it. And The Office was outstanding this week - what are you talking about?

  17. Craig says:

Sorry Avitable, but I was underwhelmed. The Jim and Dwight parts were fun, but the ethics storyline started out strong, and just didn’t pan out all that well. And that’s coming from someone who loves Holly, I think she’s a great addition.

I want every episode to be The Dinner Party.

  18. GoKitty says:

Well as the only other person who watched it, I have to say I wasnt that happy with it. The lines just seemed so BAD and not in an ironic way either. I’ll probably keep watching it for Molly and Selma and just pray that it gets better.

Did anyone see Testees on FX? I had hopes for it but again the diaglogue seemed BLAH. When I saw that Kenny Hotz, of Kenny Vs Spenny, was a creator/producer then I sorta lost all hope for the show.

  19. DWQ Online says:

I watched it and after it was over, wondered how in the world that show got on TV. I immediately deleted the series from my DVR Scheduler.

I also watched Testees on FX. It was sort of funny but was more of the young straight guy kind of humor than real funny stuff.

  20. Andy McEntee says:

I watched it. It wasn’t Emmy winning television, but I’m willing to give it a chance. Very often pilots are kind of ehh, and it takes awhile for it to get into it’s groove. I laughed out loud a few times, and I love Molly. I’ll give it 5 episodes, before I decide to take it off my DVR or not.
I totally agree about the office too. Not my favorite episode, and I miss Pam.
The new South Park last night was pretty great as well. Messed up, but great. It was all about George Lucas and Steven Spielberg raping Indiana Jones.
By the way, I own Superstar on DVD and still stop and watch it every time I catch it on TV.
About twice a day, i do a “Supermodel Documentary Hour” at work. My co-workers think it’s weird, I think it’s necessary.

  21. Dave S. says:

Andy: Where the hell do you work?!

  22. Craig says:

Yes! Supermodel Documentary Hours are my favorite ever! I love that scene. Me and my friends also had the cafeteria dance sequence memorized for a while. Andy, why aren’t we married?

I didn’t watch South Park, but I saw some of the scenes. It’s hysterical and so very very wrong. Here it is if anyone is interested:

This is what it usually looks like:

  24. Craig says:

    Fierce!

  25. Better Off Ted - Series Premiere at Puntabulous says:

[...] I’ve never heard of but does a delightful Liz Lemon impression. I may have been wrong about Kath & Kim, which I gave up on months ago, but here’s hoping Better Off Ted keeps up the good [...]
