Brilliant!! The Biden/Obama dialogue is hilarious! The Palin “strategy” is damn funny! And I recognized Bill as soon as his head popped out of the grass (notice, he didn’t inhale any).

A great start to a day following a sleepless night! :-D

  2. Dave S. on October 13, 2008 at 7:40 am

Here at Puntabulous, I’m feeling as lonely as a pole-dancing Hillary at a Hooters bar. :-(

  3. David on October 13, 2008 at 8:40 am

  4. Bernd on October 13, 2008 at 8:44 am

I always knew it, Hillary is wearing the pants in that relationship.

  5. Hayden on October 13, 2008 at 8:48 am

Great way to start a day when most of America is still sleeping and I am stuck at work…love the reading section the best!!! What does everyone else like best?

  6. Marcus on October 13, 2008 at 8:50 am

I think Bill and Hilary are awsome! I didn’t expect it and it made me laugh out loud. That is right, i still write laugh out loud you suckas…

  7. Tam on October 13, 2008 at 9:03 am

LOL Funny. I thought the Mel Gibson “Maverick” thing was brilliant. Another great job Craig.

So who has to work today? Not me thankfully.

  8. Craig on October 13, 2008 at 9:17 am

    Me :-(

  9. Bernd on October 13, 2008 at 9:20 am

Tam, isn’t it Turkey day in Canada today? And yes, those south of the border need to work today. So no need to rub it in any further. How long will you be slavin away in the kitchen?

Which Mel Gibson movie is ‘maverick’ from? I only know that it was Tom Cruise’s nickname in Top Gun

  10. Dave S. on October 13, 2008 at 9:21 am

    Me too. :-( I need a nap.

  11. Dave S. on October 13, 2008 at 9:22 am

Bernd: Mel was in the movie remake of the TV show “Maverick.”

  12. Dave S. on October 13, 2008 at 9:23 am

And we’re well on our way to match the 184 (and counting) comments from Friday’s post! Woohoo!

  13. Tam on October 13, 2008 at 9:30 am

Yep, Turkey day today Bernd. There is just two of us so not much slaving. I will break down and make a pumpkin pie later and then throw this “turkey breast in a box” I bought in the oven. I’d like to do some shopping but everything is closed up tight tight here today so laundry it is. Some of my friends in the US have today off but mostly government types I think.

Hope you make it till the end of day Dave. Do you have a real office with a door? If so I’d shut it and climb under your desk for an hour.

  14. Dave S. on October 13, 2008 at 9:39 am

Tam: My office is shared with my designers. :-( Not that *that* would stop me from crawling under my desk necessarily. I’m thinking of maybe just leaving early…

  15. Dave S. on October 13, 2008 at 9:53 am

I just reread this strip and laughed again. (hey, it’s keeping me awake…) This is quality political satire. Really. Good stuff.

  16. Hayden on October 13, 2008 at 9:54 am

    love hillary’s hair and pants-suit

  17. Craig on October 13, 2008 at 9:58 am

    Thanks!

It took me a really long time to draw Hillary, but I still don’t like the way she came out. I just couldn’t get the hair right. The orange pantsuit is from her DNC speech. I thought Michelle wore purple to the DNC also, but I was wrong, she wore purple in the notorious “terrorist fist bump” picture.

  18. Dave S. on October 13, 2008 at 10:19 am

    Craig, you think of everything.

  19. john on October 13, 2008 at 10:48 am

Absolutely hysterical! Excellent job Craig. Bill & Hillary are awesome and Sarah’s characterization was perfect.

  20. ExAstrisScientia on October 13, 2008 at 11:40 am

lol, at first I was thinking “why is Bill Clinton wearing the nun’s hat that Sally Field wore in the Flying Nun?” but now I see that it’s the grass on his head, oh it’s going to be a very long day for me :-(

  21. Will on October 13, 2008 at 11:55 am

    Hahahahaha! Awesome.

  22. Nicky on October 13, 2008 at 12:06 pm

That was pretty sweet. I love Hilary’s involvement. I completely did NOT understand why small animal that was only a head was wearing a green hat and talking to Obama/Biden. I was like “Did this just enter sci-fi?!”
    haha. I’m slow.

  23. Ryan R. on October 13, 2008 at 12:34 pm

I think you’ve proved anyone who was complaining about your political apathy wrong.

PS – I presume that is Ifill, right?

  24. Craig on October 13, 2008 at 12:41 pm

Thanks Ryan R! Part of me was hoping this might help people realize that I’m more politically informed than I let on. And I’m pretty good at telling the difference between fact and rumor too! :-)

No, that’s Michelle Obama. There was a rumor going around for a while that there was a tape of her at church talking smack about “whities”. You can read about it here:

    http://wonkette.com/400121/mythological-whitey-tape-will-finally-ruin-obama

  25. FDot on October 13, 2008 at 2:02 pm

So…..based on the equal amount of skewering you give both parties, I’m guessing you’re a Libertarian?

  26. Craig on October 13, 2008 at 2:33 pm

FDot: No, I just think they’re both worthy of being teased. :-P

Remember when Kathy Griffin made the “Jesus can suck it.” comment at the Emmy’s? Afterwards when asked what Jesus would think of her comment she said “I think he’ll be okay.” No one should be above being made fun of. Not Jesus, not our future Presidents. Even in my daily life I expect people to have a certain amount of self-awareness and ability to make fun of themselves. If Jesus, or our future President crumbles under a humorous attack, I’m not sure I want them to be my Messiah or President respectively. So just like the crazy Christians were furious about Kathy Griffin making fun of Jesus, I will say the same thing about either of our potential future Presidents: “I think he’ll be okay.”

  27. Michelle M. on October 13, 2008 at 2:38 pm

    This could open SNL. Brilliant!

  28. Kimi on October 13, 2008 at 2:56 pm

I totally didn’t get the Bill Clinton hat thing. Good thing I can always count on your smart readers to help me out! Really enjoyed this one…..I always love when I scroll down for 3 or 4 of the same frame to really get the “face” impact……too funny!

  29. FDot on October 13, 2008 at 3:17 pm

    Self-deprecation…a handy tool to have.

One has to have a thick skin to run in politics as attacks are just de regueur these days. It’s always fun though to watch a politician go on the attack, but when a attack is made against him, then he claims that the attack is totally unfair. Both of our presidential candidates should be able to weather whatever is said against them.

Plus, I highly doubt you are Libertarian. Perhaps if you lived in the back woods of Montana and shouldered a rifle……..then again……I’m not sure flannel would be a good look for you.

  30. Michelle M. on October 13, 2008 at 3:21 pm

Craig – Okay, I got the Iranian flag, but what’s the other one? A trip to the Wasilla Library won’t be any help. At least I knew that was grass on Clinton’s head : ).

  31. Dave S. on October 13, 2008 at 3:25 pm

Damn. I totally didn’t get that that was an Iranian flag (or is it Iraqi?). That makes it all the better!! Craig, you’re a frickin’ genius.

I need to pay more attention to this comment thread and less of what’s going on over at the argyle one…

Well, okay, maybe I’ll just split it 50/50. We’re having too damn much fun over there…

  32. Craig on October 13, 2008 at 3:36 pm

Good catch with the Iranian flag Michelle M! I was wondering if anyone would pick up on it. I know I certainly wouldn’t if I wasn’t the one who drew it! :-P

The other one is just one I made up. It’s meant to blur the line between patriotism and religion.

  33. Tam on October 13, 2008 at 4:20 pm

Hey, I get to vote tomorrow. Oh yay. You should have done a Canadian puntabupeople Craig. Oh wait, you’d run out of funny material before you hit the second picture. I just have to figure out how I’m going to fit the time in to vote between work/lessons/life. Oh well, must do my civic duty. I just checked, I have until 9:30 at night, PLENTY of time.

  34. digkv on October 13, 2008 at 7:22 pm

Pretty awesome Craig haha. Your depth into politics is quite hilarious and really pokes fun at all the problems of the candidates. awesome!

  35. john on October 13, 2008 at 8:01 pm

I thought the other flag was a poke at McCain/Palin and their, or at least her desire for a theocracy; The United States of Christianity.

Even if it wasn’t intentional, it totally works. If I had a hat, it would be off to you.

  36. Ryan R. on October 13, 2008 at 9:48 pm

I’ve decided that instead of George Washington, the guy in the wig is Craig in a George Washington costume.

  37. Bill on October 13, 2008 at 9:50 pm

I felt that too, Ryan R. It’s all in the very end of it and the “sigh”…totally Craig.

  38. Ξ_Heather on October 14, 2008 at 8:56 pm

Craig, I didn’t get a chance to comment yesterday but what I wouldn’t give to have you summarize politics regularly in Puntabulous form. This is my favorite post you’ve done, along with all of the other ones that are my favorites. (It’s a crowded club.)

  39. cb on October 15, 2008 at 5:26 pm

At least a “whitey” won… right? That WAS the point, wasn’t it?

  40. Craig on October 16, 2008 at 12:17 pm

    Glad you liked it Ξ_Heather!

cb: That wasn’t quite the point. Hillary was brought in so it could be deemed a default and no one would be the wnner.

I came across your blog through the truthlaidbare.com website that ranks blogs by traffic. I want to take a moment to explain a new program presented by CityAds.net, a unique and completely different online advertising company. This recently launched campaign is an Ad Exchange Program, the purpose of which is to help drive traffic to your blog as sites are promoted through each other. The program costs nothing for those websites that participate and is an excellent way to increase viewers.

The concept is simple: place a CityAds billboard on your blog and for every two ads it displays, you will earn one free ad on our network. With your blog getting a large amount of hits per month, you could be getting a vast amount of ads promoting your blog for free. We’re inviting blogs and websites alike to participate in this free advertising program.

I would like to include your blog in the Ad Exchange Program to help promote its content across a vast network. Please let me know what you think about this opportunity. Furthermore, I would like to make our module available to you to self promote via video advertising. We host it and cover all the bandwidth costs. I am looking forward to speaking with you soon.

    Thanks,

    Bryan Saba
