Grayson

This is a few years old, but I just rediscovered it, and it makes me happy. It’s a fake trailer for a movie that doesn’t actually exist and never will, but I totally wish that it did. The actual movie can’t be made because it uses the characters owned by DC Comics and Warner Brothers, but they could make the trailer as long as it was distributed for free, and not sold for profit. You can read the screenplay for the full length movie at the filmaker’s official site.

There’s even a cool poster for it (click for full size):

Oh, and for something completely unrelated, check out these new cast photos for the upcoming Star Trek movie. Everyone looks great, especially Zachary Quinto as Spock. I’m also pleasantly surprised with how Karl Urban looks as Bones. I didn’t see the resemblance at all until now. The only one I don’t think works that well is Anton Yelchin as Chekov. There’s just something not right, possibly the hair. But overall, I’m really excited for this movie!

    That was fun.

  • By polt, October 16, 2008 @ 8:31 am

Have to wait until I get home to see the trailer…but damn I LOVE that poster!

And the ST photos, yeah, this might be an okay movie after all…..

    HUGS…

  • By David, October 16, 2008 @ 8:56 am

That trailer was a bit much. I mean, everything but the kitchen sink and everyone but Green Arrow. Still, the lead guy is hot.

The Star Trek photos look cool, though. I love me some Zach Quinto.

Will have to wait to see the trailer till I get home tonight, but the poster looks cool. Zachary Quinto makes Spock hot, hotter than Capt’n Kirk.

  • By ExAstrisScientia, October 16, 2008 @ 10:18 am

They should try to incorporate this idea into the current Batman series of movies, now that would be a Robin worth seeing.

  • By Craig, October 16, 2008 @ 10:27 am

So if I’m understanding correctly, that’s a Robin you could get behind? :-P

  • By Tam, October 16, 2008 @ 10:40 am

Ohhh. They do look good. Spock is definitely hotter than Kirk, its the ears. (See Dave? pointy ears = hot) Will definitely check it out when it’s released.

  • By ExAstrisScientia, October 16, 2008 @ 11:09 am

Chris O’Donnell, yes. Chris O’Donnell with rubber nipples, NO!

  • By GoKitty, October 16, 2008 @ 11:45 am

Have to agree with David… that was a bit much. They tried to squeeze every DC character they could into that trailer.

So is anyone going to be playing the MMOs based on the DC and Star Trek universes?

  • By Dave S., October 16, 2008 @ 12:01 pm

The new Star Trek looks great. I can’t wait for that to hit theaters!!! The casting is pure genius.

  • By Brian, October 16, 2008 @ 12:07 pm

I absolutely love the new photos for the Star Trek movie. It has me super hyped for the movie. And I totally agree – Zachary Quinto as Spock is genius, and super cute.

  • By Craig, October 16, 2008 @ 12:14 pm

Yeah, I agree that they tried to put too much in the trailer, but as a demo reel for their studio, I can sympathize with their “look at all the cool stuff we can do!” attitude. This could be their one shot to impress the big wigs. So if it means putting in Wonder Woman and Green Lantern just so you can show off the golden lasso and power ring effects, I say go for it.

    What are MMOs?

  • By GoKitty, October 16, 2008 @ 12:19 pm

ohmygod, Craig… and you call yourself a dork? MMO stands for massively multiplayer online. Its your World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes, and so on. Anyway, they’re still developing the DC and Star Trek games but it might be in beta by next year.

  • By Craig, October 16, 2008 @ 12:22 pm

Sorry GoKitty! I never got into the online gaming world. :-(

I like my Wii because the games are super easy. I get frustrated too easily if the games are complicated. Run, Jump, Fire, thats about all I can handle.

  • By Danny, October 16, 2008 @ 1:03 pm

Thanks for sharing! I had never seen this (bad fanboy). Kinda made my head spin from all the shit that was going on, but fun to watch anyhow.

  • By Dave S., October 16, 2008 @ 1:22 pm

Totally agree, Craig. I can’t stand all the damn buttons on our PS3 controllers. Yet I’ll sit and play a game on my iPhone for an hour. :-P

  • By Sven, October 16, 2008 @ 1:39 pm

Far be it from me to get controversial, but I have a really bad ‘Thunderbirds The Movie’ feeling about the new Star Trek. Perhaps it’s just that Kirk looks, well, twinky.

~puts arms over head, drops and rolls~

  • By Craig, October 16, 2008 @ 1:55 pm

Sven! How dare you question anything done by J.J. Abrams! (Except Fringe, which I still don’t think he plays that big of a role in, they just put his name on it to attract more people.)

I’m certainly not going to complain about a twinty Kirk. :-P

When i was in high school, my friends and I lip synced to a back street boys song and made a music video. This looks better than that.

  • By GoKitty, October 16, 2008 @ 2:21 pm

You realize they made a lightsaber attachment for your wii controller? Totally nonfunctioning but nice for the star wars dorks.

  • By Craig, October 16, 2008 @ 2:26 pm

Joemo: I would like to see said video. You should upload it to youtube!

GoKitty: No way! I thought it was gonna be the glowy rod things that I’ve seen in stores that just goes on top of it. But those are way better and kind of awesome!

That was a long ass trailer. Superman needs some Grecian Formula and Catwoman needs some acting lessons. The Jokerettes made me think of the Flaccettes (now there’s a movie). But it had 3 seconds of Wonder Woman (curse you, Joss Whedon).

Saw this Star Trek post on I Watch Stuff: http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2008/10/meet_the_mannequins_of_star_tr.php

  • By Craig, October 16, 2008 @ 3:01 pm

My my my, Spock looks a little rubbery in the EW cover!

    Catwoman’s acting is indeed atrocious.

  • By Tam, October 16, 2008 @ 3:21 pm

Okay, suddenly Spock is not so hot. But Kirk has amazing blue eyes.

  • By Tam, October 16, 2008 @ 3:22 pm

Umm, that Wii thing is called the “Thrustmaster”? Really? Isn’t that kind of pervy?

  • By Craig, October 16, 2008 @ 3:24 pm

LOL. I didn’t noice that it was called “thrustmaster”. I think that might even make it more awesome!

  • By Dave S., October 16, 2008 @ 3:26 pm

Tam/Craig: Now *that’s* a video game I’m sure the geriatric Wii crowd would love… :-P

  • By Nicky, October 16, 2008 @ 3:41 pm

The Wii is enjoyed by people of all ages.

I haven’t gotten a new Wii game since Super Mario Galaxy…

  • By Tam, October 16, 2008 @ 4:30 pm

I am debating getting a Wii for Christmas. Our house is game system free, but I’m not sure since girls aren’t generally into gaming so much and we are an all-girl house except for the one cat and the rabbit and I don’t think they can use the controllers without thumbs. I’m ambivalent on this one.

  • By Craig, October 16, 2008 @ 4:30 pm

I haven’t played Super Mario Galaxy in a while. I was having trouble with that damn ghost level.

  • By Nicky, October 16, 2008 @ 5:38 pm

    Ghost level?! I don’t remember that…
I also don’t remember any part of the game being difficult at all
    : P

  • By Michelle M., October 16, 2008 @ 9:00 pm

It’s awfully quiet today… is everyone off buying a Thrustmaster?

  • By Tam, October 16, 2008 @ 9:51 pm

It sounds like a bad pick-up line Michelle. “Want to come back to my place and play with my thrustmaster?” *wink* *wink*

  • By Michelle M., October 16, 2008 @ 10:06 pm

Well, gee… who would say no to that?

  • By john, October 16, 2008 @ 11:20 pm

I know someone who dated the guy playing young Kirk. She said he was a really nice guy; smart, polite and funny.

  • By Nicky, October 16, 2008 @ 11:46 pm

    Sounds like me

  • By Bill, October 17, 2008 @ 12:03 am

Umm…John…you just described ME …when I was young… and was a prom date….I was a really nice guy, smart, polite AND funny…but TOTALLY GAY….but not necessarily OUT at the time….Not that I’m implying anything but still…just sayin’…I can TOTALLY relate. OH…and I’m so totally bummed that we have NOT created another thread like our other one with Craig’s First Argyle of the Season… I know we tried but Hayden sorta killed it with his shift to the other post. Craig…you might want to think about considering adding some sort of “chat room” feature to your blog…if that’s even possible. Could be fun!!

  • By Himbo, October 17, 2008 @ 6:09 am

The pix of the cast from the new Star Trek movie are cool! I love John Cho, that guy is hilarious as Harold.

By the way Craig, I tagged you on my blog http://fantabuloushimbo.blogspot.com/2008/10/ive-been-tagged.html

  • By Ryan R., October 17, 2008 @ 11:33 am

    I finished the screenplay.

    Dark. Very dark.

  • By Craig, October 17, 2008 @ 12:00 pm

Wow Ryan R. I’ve never read it. Was it good?

  • By Nick, October 18, 2008 @ 1:01 am

I’ll admit I didn’t watch the movie (I’m about to go fall asleep), but I wanted to let you know that the CW has greenlit a spec series called “The Graysons.” It is seen as a potential replacement for Smallville.

    http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=49254

Also, I just downloaded “World of Goo” onto my Wii. It’s FUN!

  • By Mik, October 22, 2008 @ 9:36 pm

That’s a movie that I wish they would make, looks fun.
