Puntabulous People on Parade!

Well it’s that time! Time for me to show off your amazing creations! And let me tell you they are all so incredibly awesome, and I’m honored that so many of you took the time to make these for me to share with everyone! Over the next few days I’ll be adding these drawings to my blogroll and cooking up ways to insert you guys into my later posts. I’ve already come up with a way to give Avitable’s drawing a role in an upcoming episode of Super Viagra and Vagina Girl, which I think will be really fun (Avitable, e-mail me and I’ll fill you in).

This is absolutely fantastic! What a great way to end the week!

My hair is long and always, always messy. It was that way when I was 7, and it’s that way now. I usually wear it in a braid so I can get through the day.

  • By Chris, November 21, 2008 @ 6:28 am

Yay! I was really looking forward to this post. Great idea Craig. It was fun doing the drawing. It is intreresting to see how other commenters see themselves.

  • By Tam, November 21, 2008 @ 6:33 am

Amazing. Those are all fabulous. I am dazzled by people who drew pets. I thought about drawing my evil bunny but was clueless how to go about it. Evil jackalope made me laugh out loud. Many of them did actually. Great job everyone.

  • By Milo, November 21, 2008 @ 6:41 am

Oh, I like all the drawings!

Had I known you had such an arty readership I would have made more effort! I look like Worzel Gummidge!

Thank God I do not have paint and could not figure out how to do one of these without it. There is no way mine would have looked near as good as any of these.
It’s almost 4 o’clock in the morning and I can not fall asleep because I am amazed at how good these are and saddened about my lack of artistic ability.
Congrats everyone, and great idea Craig! I’m going to send you something soon that show’s my creative ability. As soon as I figure out what that is…

  • By Dave S., November 21, 2008 @ 7:12 am

This was great!!! The drawings are awesome! And Michelle featured little Argyle! Avitable: Eeeewwww! And Robert’s from Columbus, too! Woohoo! Robert, we oughta get together for a happy hour sometime! The squid is brilliant! Jeffrey works at my favorite store! Tam: I hate snow more than you!

    Interjections! Show excitement! Or emotion!

  • By Dave S., November 21, 2008 @ 7:19 am

When I first read Chris’s question to the Equine Lord, I thought it said “How do you believe the challenges of your *mouth* shaped who you are today?” Which would have certainly elicited a completely different response…

  • By Tam, November 21, 2008 @ 7:24 am

Dave: I highly doubt you hate it more than me. Although I’m not sure how you measure that. But you do have shading in your drawing which is way talented.

I noticed he put Sven’s sunny Australia one next to mine just to mock my hatred of the coming winter. Michelle M’s is brilliant, she is our fairy princess. Wish I could comment on them all but the post would be way too long. I was kind of hoping there’s be no naked Puntabupeople so I wouldn’t get sidetracked today, but seems Avitable went and blew that plan.

  • By Avitable, November 21, 2008 @ 7:27 am

Wow, that was awesome. I think Bossy’s might be my favorite as far as photorealism. She does have fabulous hair.

  • By -jeff, November 21, 2008 @ 8:03 am

Is it sad the only thing I could think of was me going to work?

I’m just in awe of how much detail and time went into some of these pictures.

More Importantly, I’m very happy to see how many Puntabulous readers are well hung. I always knew I was reading this blog for a reason.

Also, can anyone send me an email about how to enlarge that certain part of the male body? I’ve searched and searched but can’t seem to find anything about brain enlargement anywhere on the internet.

    -jeff

  • By Ξ_Heather, November 21, 2008 @ 8:24 am

DaveS: in light of your post, one of my favorite lines from Married With Children was Kelly’s, “When I think THIS way, people can hear me.”

(Closely related to a line from, I think, Dhama said by her mom about her day, “He processes thoughts externally”).

  • By Adam, November 21, 2008 @ 8:39 am

Actually, if you moved down to ATL with Joemosexual then Missy and I would have a babysitter close by and then WE would be “living the dream”!!!! Seriously, Atlanta ROCKS!!!

  • By Dave S., November 21, 2008 @ 8:49 am

Heather: My Puntabutoon came true last night. I was at a benefit and was waiting by the bar for a bartender and this really hot girl walks up and starts small talk with something like “Oh, I’m sorry, were you before me?” And I was all gentlemanly and offered that she go first and we laughed a bit, then I was all, like, not knowing what to do after that.

I get all stupid and nervous and I totally clam up.

    Damn my cartoon insight!

  • By David, November 21, 2008 @ 8:50 am

Yay! Now I feel vastly inadequate.

It didn’t even occur to me to create a background. And I forgot to draw in my beard. Damn!

  • By Hayden, November 21, 2008 @ 9:03 am

Amazing everyone! I can’t stop looking at you all!

  • By Aunt know it all, November 21, 2008 @ 9:06 am

Great pics! Have you thought of submitting them to “mypublisher.com”?
    Thanks for all the laughs!

  • By Dave S., November 21, 2008 @ 9:07 am

David: Don’t worry about the beard. We’ll just take a dry erase marker and draw it in on our monitors. Of course, it makes scrolling difficult — what with all the erase, draw, erase, draw, erase, draw — but it’s a sacrifice I’m sure we’ll be willing to take.

  • By polt, November 21, 2008 @ 9:17 am

Great work all around people!!! Loved them. (although just right now, as I looked at mine again, I realized I forgot to put glasses on me. *SIGH*…getting old an all…)

Dave S.: Good GOD man, do I have to help you with everything??? Do I need to come back out there and stand WITH you at every bar and whisper things to say in your ear ala Cyrano deberzerac (sp?) ? Course, a guy standing next to you all night whispering things in your ear might hinder you chances of getting chicks as well….

Again, GREAT job one and all!

    HUGS…

  • By Craig, November 21, 2008 @ 9:22 am

Milo: That’s really funny! I almost made a scarecrow remark but thought better of it!

Andy: Don’t be sad! I still want to see what you’re capable of. I’m sure it would be great!

Adam: You also want me there because I’m so much fun to be around, right? RIGHT???

Aunt Know It All: I’ve actually thought about submitting my Super Viagra cartoons and making a book out of them, but using these pictures would be a great idea too!

  • By chambleee54, November 21, 2008 @ 9:33 am

Craig, nothing personal, but we have too many yankee transplants in Atlanta already.
These pictures are fun. One day I will learn how to follow instructions

  • By Bernd, November 21, 2008 @ 9:37 am

I love all the paintings and especially those with elaborate backgrounds. I didn’t even think of doing a background. But living in Florida I could also say that this is what FL looks like. It’s flat as a pancake and the sky is almost always blue.

  • By Tam, November 21, 2008 @ 9:49 am

Damn, Dave. You should have handed her the phone and I could have texted on your behalf. LOL Next time, next time. More vodka works too.

Bernd: If you’re living in Florida, shouldn’t you have had a mouse lurking in the background, or some other large costumed critter? And the sky was blue when I was there last year, every day. Sigh. It was amazing. There was no snow at all and it was warm. I was happy. Those were the days.

  • By Howard, November 21, 2008 @ 10:26 am

That was as much fun to read as it was making the pictures. Thanks for ‘forcing’ me to do one. They are all great.

  • By Craig, November 21, 2008 @ 10:27 am

Forcing?! Since when is threatening to swallow an entire bottle of pills if I don’t get a drawing from you, forcing?

  • By john, November 21, 2008 @ 10:31 am

Craig: Best. Post. EVER! This idea was pure genius! I freaking *love* the argyle shako.

Everyone: The Puntabupeople all look amazing. I’m so impressed with the creativity, from backgrounds, to clothes to pets to hair.

Tam: I love yours. I also like that I’m not the only one with gray hair.

Chris: The facial hair is excellent. Totally looks like 5 o’clock shadow.

Dave S.: I laughed out loud at yours, then I felt guilty for laughing at your pain.

JC: That Space Needle totally kicks a55!

Michelle M.: Way to set the bar! Holy Crap!

  • By Brian, November 21, 2008 @ 10:49 am

Those are so AWESOME! I love that Mike and I both used a cactus to show we are in Arizona. Too funny!

  • By Tam, November 21, 2008 @ 10:54 am

    John: Gray rules. :-)

I am so amazed by Grogipher’s tartan. Everyone should know of my lust after all things tartan.

  • By Dave S., November 21, 2008 @ 11:03 am

“Grogipher’s Tartan” — sounds like a magic item from D&D…

  • By Tam, November 21, 2008 @ 11:07 am

Dave: Maybe there’s something magical under his tartan. ;-) One can hope.

  • By Enrico, November 21, 2008 @ 11:08 am

Wow! These are amazing! I love them all. I wish I spent more time on mine. haha.

    Tam’s makes me cry almost
Michelle M.’s is amazing! Love all the refs
I love Bossy and Ξ_Heather’s hair!
Jere must have taken forever with that one
Leah gets points for using my favorite Craig picture
And it’s cool that Dave S. and Polt stuck to their Puntabulous characters. haha
Thanks for calling my Britney extremely well-detailed. That shirt took forever to make!

  • By Craig, November 21, 2008 @ 11:13 am

Enrico: Michelle M. even included Richard Parker for you! And a purple palace for Polt!

  • By Enrico, November 21, 2008 @ 11:15 am

I didn’t get that the palace was purple for Polt! haha.
And isn’t it funny that Michelle included Richard Parker for me (thanks!! E>E>) and I basically included Richard Parker for her? Aww. Such love around here.

  • By Howard, November 21, 2008 @ 11:26 am

Craig: Bottle of PILLS? Ooo, I thought you said bottle-sized co.. uh, rooster. That’s what ‘forced’ me to do it. The thought of that going down my throat. You know, lightly baked with herbs and lemon and a side of risotto with a good blush wine.

What did you you think I was talking about?

  • By jomosexual, November 21, 2008 @ 11:39 am

Um let me just say that the Argyle ball gown in michelle m’s picture is going to be craigs christmas present.

  • By vuboq, November 21, 2008 @ 12:07 pm

wow! these are amazing. who knew there were so many people out there with mad MS Paint Skillz?

  • By Chris, November 21, 2008 @ 12:11 pm

Dave S.: I would never get fresh with the Winged Equine Lord! ;)

In regard to first contacts with potential future dates: sometimes _what_ you say, initially, is not as critical as keeping the conversation going. I have had first meetings with people I considered dating where we had only semi-coherent first conversations. It can actually be endearing if someone is a little nervous when first talking to me, and sometimes that even helps to put me more at ease. First conversations don’t have to be silky smooth. Eventually the two people get more comfortable with each other, and then things start to make more sense, or it becomes obvious there isn’t a connection. Either way there is minimal downside and huge upside potential. :)

  • By jerekeys, November 21, 2008 @ 12:16 pm

So many new blogs I have to check out. This was an awesome post.

Enrico, it didn’t really take me that long. I used to work in the magazine publishing industry and I’ve become pretty fast at graphic design projects – even if I’m not particularly original or inspired.

  • By Enrico, November 21, 2008 @ 12:32 pm

Lucky! I’m a self-taught photoshopper (as you can tell) and my pics take forever to make.

And I didn’t mention before, but I love Milo’s creation. He does look more handsome in real life…. in the headless shot on his blog. lol.

  • By Skinner, November 21, 2008 @ 1:04 pm

Sensational! Stunning! Love the Squid and screensaver (LMTO)! As soon as I got up I ran and checked all of our Puntabupeople. This was better than X-mas!!!!! I think in a year we need a birthday to see how we have all grown.

  • By polt, November 21, 2008 @ 1:05 pm

Enrico: Polt character? What? That’s the real me baby, all the way (well, except for the lack of glasses…)

Craiggers and Michelle M.: I was thinking it was a purple castle, and thought, ‘well how sweet is THAT, she made a purple castle for me!’ Well DUH! Never put the Palace to the Purple!!! *SIGH*…thats the old thing again. But Michelle M.’s really ROCKED!

    HUGS….

  • By Dave S., November 21, 2008 @ 1:38 pm

Chris: Good perspective. I’m just glad it wasn’t the Winged Equine Lord that cut in front of me at the bar…

  • By Enrico, November 21, 2008 @ 1:55 pm

“I think in a year we need a birthday to see how we have all grown.”

    AGREED!
A new Britney video will be out by then (or many! yay!) and I’ll have a new cameo!
The video for “Circus” should be out soon…

  • By Kimi, November 21, 2008 @ 2:03 pm

Beautiful! Loved them all, even Avitable’s, though it was also deeply disturbing. Good work everyone!

  • By M. Nicodemus, November 21, 2008 @ 2:33 pm

Aww… now I am doubly bummed that I didn’t have time to make a drawing. Everyone did such a great job, I had no idea there were so many people with mad MS Paint skilz here. Thanks for the great parade!

  • By Dave S., November 21, 2008 @ 2:41 pm

Hey, I just realized — I’ve never been in a parade before now! Woohoo! :-)

  • By TwoPi, November 21, 2008 @ 2:52 pm

This is my second parade, but I prefer this one I must say.

Once upon a time (on July 4, 1995 I suspect), Ξ_Heather and I were driving on a two-lane Wisconsin state highway that hugs the Mississippi River, somewhere just SE of Red Wing I think. For many of the small river towns, the state highway is the *only* north-south road through town (with the E-W streets all dead-ends. So if you want to have a 4th of July parade, you close the highway.

Well, apparently we didn’t notice the road closure signs or something, and we found ourselves driving a grandpa-brown 1982 Chevy Impala down Main Street in the midst of the parade, with the sidewalks lined by dozens of locals waving at us (and probably waiting for us to roll down the windows and toss them candy or something).

Mmmmm. Road trips in the Impala. Great times.

  • By Tam, November 21, 2008 @ 2:53 pm

Yay for you Dave. I was a clown in a Santa Claus parade once, in Winnipeg, in December . Do you have any idea what the wind chill was? -315 I think. I stopped working for that organization soon after that I think. Damn that was cold. So this is my second parade, and much more pleasant than the first.

  • By Tam, November 21, 2008 @ 2:55 pm

TwoPi: I’m always amazed how many people get caught up in parades. Did you at least wave back merrily?

  • By Dave S., November 21, 2008 @ 3:01 pm

    TwoPi: That’s an awesome story!!!

  • By Chris, November 21, 2008 @ 3:02 pm

I have been in lots of parades, with the Indian Guides (anyone else ever do that?), Cub Scouts, and finally Boy Scouts. I have to say this parade was more fun and more diverse. Less walking as well. ;)

  • By TwoPi, November 21, 2008 @ 3:05 pm

I don’t know if Ξ_Heather waved; I remember sort of hunching down, gripping the steering wheel, and staring straight ahead (presumably beet red).

  • By Ξ_Heather, November 21, 2008 @ 3:30 pm

    I remember laughing. I bet I waved.

  • By polt, November 21, 2008 @ 3:54 pm

I was in a parade 20 years ago…every 10 years here where I live they have the “Underwear Parade” held at midnight one night over the summer. Civic groups and organizations and such walk in it for some kinda local charity thing. people wear long johns, or dress up as babies in diapers, or bathrobes. The fire trucks drive by and spray water over the crowds with the hoses and such.

It’s not sexual or erotic at all, much more vaudeville like. I walked in the parade with a group of us that worked at Domino’s Pizza then.

Also, I’ve never been IN it, but I’ve been to the DC Gay Pride parade almost ten years in a row. My people, we sure do know how to throw a party…and a parade. :)

    HUGS…

  • By Bernd, November 21, 2008 @ 4:10 pm

This is the first time I’m in a parade and get to watch it, too. I’ve done a number of gay-pride parades everywhere I’ve lived. The bigger the parade, the more fun it is. Doing a choreography with a group in costumes to some funky dance-tracks is out of this world.

  • By Coty, November 21, 2008 @ 4:16 pm

So have you heard the bad news, Craig? Pushing Daisies is well…quite literally, well…you know. ABC canceled it. Please, don’t die.

  • By Craig, November 21, 2008 @ 4:18 pm

I heard and I’m devastated! And it ends with a cliffhanger too! I’m so disappointed and mad that they don’t even get an episode to wrap things up with.

  • By Coty, November 21, 2008 @ 4:24 pm

I hear there are rumors of a movie, so that’s always good news!

  • By Enrico, November 21, 2008 @ 5:12 pm

I’ve never been in a parade! This is my first as far as I know.
And Craig, in that quote I e-mailed you about the cancellation, they said they want to continue in comic book form…
but I want the actors there
    : (

  • By jerekeys, November 21, 2008 @ 5:29 pm

I haven’t been a devoted fan of Pushing Daisies, but the show grew on me and I’ll miss it. Somehow, I almost always have to watch it online because I’m never home when it airs live.

  • By digkv, November 21, 2008 @ 6:19 pm

Haha all those pics were most awesome and totally brightened my day. Loved how detailed Michelle’s was and loved avitable’s large peen and enrico’s large bulge.

Pushing daisies news is so incredibly sad. Damn you ABC but then again it probably wouldn’t have survived on any other network. Maybe NBC it would have since NBC has no shows whatsoever.

  • By FDot, November 21, 2008 @ 6:34 pm

I still can’t tell if I got the right color for my shirt. Is it red? And I’m always adorably nervous, it’s part of my charm.

Too bad about Pushing Daisies, at least ABC is giving us two more seasons of Lost.

  • By Enrico, November 21, 2008 @ 6:52 pm

    Thanks digkv!

    And FDot, that’s even worse!
That Lost, which sucked after season 1, stayed on for SO many seasons, yet a consistently good show like Pushing Daisies gets canceled after 2 seasons.
    >:O

  • By Michelle M., November 21, 2008 @ 8:36 pm

Oh wow! How much fun was that? I finally know what everyone looks like.

digkv – that squid makes me smile
    Doodle – Richard Parker, yay!
Heather – The white face, the hair… it’s smiling Samara. Am I gonna die after days?
john – you’re right. You don’t look like Matthew Perry or RDJ.
    Kristen/Cash – I want a peekaboo baby…
    Polt – I like your goatee : ).
Lauren – the evil jackalope. I wish I had made one of my bunnies evil. Darn! (interjections, hallelujah, hallelujah!)
Dave S. – Why is your shirt on?
Avitable – Why isn’t your shirt on?
    Tam – that would make a great Christmas/holiday card : ).
Joemo – You and Craig make an adorable couple. The mailbox – fantastic!
    I loved them all : D.

  • By FDot, November 21, 2008 @ 8:45 pm

Enrico: Lost picked itself up, especially once an end date was set in place for it. Pushing Daisies never had a chance on network tv, too quirky. It would have done so much better on cable, where it would have had the chance to grow an audience. So you don’t like Lost….hmm…well, Reaper is coming back in the spring.

  • By Kristen (& Cash), November 21, 2008 @ 9:33 pm

    i love everyone’s!!! so amazing.
i included Cash because he’s fiercer than all of us, and when I drew mine he was on my lap.
Michelle M. (ms paint goddess)- catch me at the right time and I’ll send you my peek-a-boo baby!

  • By Enrico, November 21, 2008 @ 10:23 pm

I loved Lost at first. I still think the first season is one of the best seasons of a show ever. But its so sad when second seasons are disappointing, and I don’t think Lost’s second season was slightly worse, but A LOT worse.
I hear it did get better after that, but I haven’t caught up yet.

    But still, this news sucks.
Now PD can join Wonderfalls for my favorite shows being canceled too soon.

  • By Polt, November 21, 2008 @ 10:55 pm

Speaking of awesome shows canceled too soon (although it’s probably too late now for much discussion), I got three:

    My So-Called Life
    Freaks & Geeks
    Undeclared

    Awesome one and all.

    HUGS…

  • By Craig, November 21, 2008 @ 10:56 pm

    Firefly
    Arrested Development
    Family Guy (but it’s back!)

  • By Evolving, November 22, 2008 @ 6:11 am

GARRR!!! I am so sad that I didn’t have a program that would let me join in this fun. But if I had I would have drawn me with a funny head of hair standing next to the Eiffel tower flipping off the French. No, the french are a FINE people, when they’re not hating on Americans!!

I would love to see your interpretation of me, Craig. That would be an awesome Christmas present. ;)

  • By Tam, November 22, 2008 @ 7:08 am

Evolving: I’ll wave at you when I slip through Paris tomorrow morning. Look for me at the airport now that you know what I look like. ;-)

  • By Mark, November 22, 2008 @ 1:10 pm

    Sancta Maria, ora pro nobis

    #2 of 20

  • By Michelle, November 23, 2008 @ 10:26 am

Fabulous idea to have a parade! It’s cool to be able to put some faces to the names. Although Adam’s was my absolute favorite. Sooo funny! I laugh every time I see it. We have such a bizarrely clever family, don’t we? :)

  • By BOSSY, November 24, 2008 @ 9:10 am
