Here is a list of my predictions for the remaining episodes of Battlestar Galactica. I’m putting them in writing because when they come true, I’d like to be able to refer back to this post, put on my big boy voice and yell: “In your face! In yo faaaaace!” I’m also making as many predictions as possible to raise my chances of being able to use said big boy voice.
THE FINAL CYLON: Dee. She dated both Billy and Apollo, giving her access to both the military and the presidency. I also think that regardless of who the final Cylon is, that they will have known all along that they were a Cylon, unlike the other four who were “switched on”.
WHO DIES: Roslin and Starbuck. Roslin is the dying leader as prophesied (spell check tells me it’s not prophesized, which I’m not quite sure I believe) in the scriptures. I’ve debated back and forth over whether it’ll be Starbuck or Apollo who dies (I believe it will definitely be one of them) and finally settled on Starbuck.
STARBUCK: Is a prophet/angel sent from the Gods to save humanity. She may be the harbinger of death as stated by the Cylon hybrid, but death is really just representative of the rebirth of humanity, or perhaps the death of the Cylons who refuse to make peace with the humans.
APOLLO: Will succeed Roslin as president after she dies. I guess this one may be kind of obvious since he’s already been acting president, but it’s a prediction nonetheless.
HELO, SHARON, AND HERA: Will live happily ever after. I really don’t see what the point of killing any of these characters would be. They’ve been through so much all series. I think their story will be the silver lining to other characters tragedies and sacrifice.
SPEAKING OF HERA: Hera and Nicholas (Chief and Cally’s baby) will play a defining role in the conclusion of the series. I want to say that there might be a flash forward to when they’re adults, but it just doesn’t seem like something BSG would do. But why else would there be such a vast focus on them the entire series if they are just pawns the entire time? I feel that something the children knowingly do will effect the outcome of the story.
BALTAR: Will find out that his life is meaningless. God never had a plan for him. He will be driven mad by this knowledge, and either commit suicide, or go into a life of seclusion with Head Six.
EARTH: The planet found in the mid-season finale is not our Earth. I’m still too leery of how they didn’t show it clearly from space to show any defining continental shapes. I think that planet is the lost and obliterated Cylon homeworld destroyed in their civil war. Earth is another planet that will be found later on. I’m still unsure about the timeline, but if I had to guess, I’d say when they find Earth it’ll be pre-civilization and the Humans and Cylons who settle there are our ancestors.
There we have it. Agree? Disagree? What are your predictions?
I stopped watching a while ago, after they settled on some planet and Lee got fat and then skinny again. So, I can’t comment on the accuracy of your predictions, but I can say that I wouldn’t mind living with Head Six (uh-huh-huh-huh, you said Head Six).
john, I almost stopped at that point but that’s actually when it got good. You should pick it up again!
And Craig, I am pretty sure you’re right on in most cases.
My prediction is that I will not see any of these things occur or not occur, and I know I’ll get to use my big boy voice, cause I know I’m right, cause I don’t watch BSG.
Although, Craiggers, I really think we need a video post with showing and/or practicing your ‘big boy’ voice. I’m sure it would be hilari-…um, informative…?
HUGS…
I predict there will be a lot more posts like these.
~sigh~
I think the final cylon is Gaeta.
I’ll agree with Roslin dying, but I don’t think Starbuck’s going to die. I’m thinking it’ll be the Admiral.
I personally can’t wait for Tyrol to confirm that Tory killed Cally so that he can proceed to off her with a quickness. That? Will be a great episode.
I predict that I am hungover this morning…wait a minute….
JP: The Lords of Kobol will welcome Tory into their Exalted Kingdom (and possibly give her a crown and scepter) for doing what she did.
Agree on Apollo becoming president, Helo and Sharron living happily ever after (but was hoping for a Helo-Gaeta match-up, there was something going on at the end of last season). I love your prediction for Baltar and hope it comes true.
I disagree on the final cylon: To me it’s Starbuck, what we have in the series right now is a Starbuck-cylon, created from her harvested DNA when she was a prisoner.
As stated in these hallowed halls before: Earth is Earth and the 13th tribe (aka us) managed to exterminate itself without help of the cylons. The end of the series will be the humans and cylons realize that they need each other to survive. That’s how the 2 kids will become important.
Umm, you know, sitting in the car this morning stuck in a monster traffic jam I was thinking the exact same things as you. Oh wait, I was reading Puntabulous on my phone, I wasn’t thinking it. But I’m sure you are accurate in your predictions because you are always right Craig.
Starbuck = Angel?! HAHAHAHAHA.
So I too think Dee is the final cylon, and it seems obvious that Roslin will die so maybe they’ll switch it up and keep her alive? I can dream : (
And I’m not so sure about ‘Earth.’ I didn’t like the midseason finale and I really don’t know what’s going on with ‘Earth’ at this point.
Enrico: You treat Starbuck the way Polt treats Britney. Play nice.
Okay, I officially hate BSG now. The damn season 4 marathon on Space tomorrow means my new Supernatural is not on (and I don’t get the CW here so can’t watch it tonight). Grrr. I now have to make sure I am home Saturday afternoon to watch. Its not the same, Friday night is my night with the boys. Damn BSG fanatics.
Craig: Not at all – Starbuck is a made-up character. And all I said was haha at her being an angel. Quite different.
And with your vast knowledge of BSG and hopefully better analysis skills than mine, can you explain the Face of the Enemy ending? I don’t get what Gaeta found out that he needs to talk about… and why he broke up with his boyfriend for it.
I’ve been thinking that Gaeta is the final cylon, and I’m still holding onto that idea, but I’m wondering if maybe a character like Tom Zarek might turn out to be the final one. That would be a good twist on his character.
I think Starbuck has already died and that will somehow figure into her arc for the remaining episodes. All the other major charcters will at least make it to the final big revelation. I agree that Earth will prove to be in prehistoric time, but I think the planet they found is it.
Did anyone watch the webisodes? I didn’t think much of them at first, but the last 3 episodes turned the series into something better.
Anyone buying anything from the big auction this weekend?
I didn’t see Gaeta ending the relationship. Is that the way the rest of you saw it? I rewatched the conversation twice, and I really didn’t think he was breaking up with Hoshi.
Craig, I actually would enjoy those predictions but your idea of the Earth thing is sort of interesting. I really hope that Hera, Sharon and Helo stay alive and after this we get to see Helo on Dollhouse in February whooooo!.
Enrico: WTF dont’ diss Starbuck, she is an angel, just because she is brash and an alcoholic doesn’t make her great. I mean she is the BEST character on BSG.
I really don’t get how Gaeta knew Tigh was a cylon either, maybe I wasn’t paying attention enough but yeaaa. Also Enrico, I don’t think Gaeta broke up with his bf, it seemed more of a confirmation that he cared.
I still haven’t watched the Face of the Enemy webisodes yet.
Right on digkv! Starbuck rules!
Well Gaeta knew he was a cylon all the time. Everyone knows now, right? I’m just wondering what he needs to talk about with the admiral. That the 8 lied to him? What does the admiral care?
Oh, and I got my idea of them breaking up from the writer of the webisode. If you listen to the webisode with commentary (its on the website too) she says at the end of the webisode “the relationship ends here.” She also says the studio made her take out Yoshi calling Gaeta “darling” because it was “too Brokeback.”
Haha omg wow i can’t believe I totally forgot that Tigh outed himself last season.
Enrico: Hm well if it’s in the commentary their relationship probably did end then. I mean, it’s not like it was such a big historical relationship since it really only existed in these 10 short webisodes.
Yeah, I just didn’t understand WHY. Thought I missed something. Guess not. lol.
And am I the only one annoyed that the only gay couple thus far included two unattractive men?!
Aw, they’re cute! Here’s a better look at the guy who plays Hoshi:
http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Brad_Dryborough
Hey, get out, that guy is from Winnipeg, my old stomping grounds. Bet he’s glad he’s not there now with -50 windchills today. So am I actually. Brrrrr. He’s cute. And not all gay guys are gorgeous despite the evidence you find on the Puntabulous site. But then maybe he’s a little “experienced” for some of you young ‘uns.
Maybe I am at a disadvantage here, but he doesn’t seem all that tragic to me….
Tam: The show films in Canada, so a large portion of the secondary cast are from there. Another reason you should start watching! Come on, I watched Torchwood!
Enrico: haha the couple isn’t horribly unattractive I mean, they are adorable in their way. I think even in the world of battlestar not all gay men are fabulously gorgeous.
Craig: Yay Starbuck! haha I really don’t get how anyone can hate her but then again I liked Tosh from Torchwood and she seems to be the most unliked character from what everyone on here says.
Me and Tosh are BFF
Yeah yeah. You think I should call in sick on Friday and watch 12 hours of Season 4? LOL I watched it back in the old days when Starbuck was a boy and I had a crush on him. Apollo and Starbuck, there was an intergalactic sandwich to hunger for back in the day.
Fuck, sorry about freaky link. Help me.
Craig: Did you just pull a Cher? (please get obscure reference) Tam’s Canadian. Torchwood is from England, they are two different countries.
digkv: I loved me some Tosh too!
Okay, I didn’t HATE Tosh (unlike those of you who pick on poor Owen – muppet head aside) I just couldn’t like her character. Yeah, she was cute and smart but she needed to be tougher and kick some ass (preferably Owen’s).
John: I think he’s trying to say that he gave in to my demands to watch Torchwood so I should give into his and watch BSG. Hey, I’m still trying to get to Dr. Who, seriously, when I am sitting in the London airport for 7 long freaking hours next month I’ll watch like a madwoman, swear.
Tam: I know, but it reminded me of Clueless when Cher asks Lucy to talk to the gardener and implies Lucy is a Mexican while Lucy is actually from El Salvador.
Obscure I know, but it jumped out at me.
Tosh was a sweet character, but the show just never allowed her to develop much beyond the “I have a crush on Owen” phase. Even when they tried to broaden her characterization, it always came back to that.
EEEEE….I just saw that Chief Tyrol is going to be at the NY Comic-Con. I guess I’ll be attending my first one.
I think the Final Cylon will be someone we thought was dead, which will be kind of naff but I’m willing to give it a go. Or maybe the final cylon is dead already and they’re all screwed. What I’m interested in is “the one who must not be named”. Who is that, I wonder?
Re: Starbuck being the Harbinger of Death – I thought that had already been cleared up when she brought mortality to the Cylons, ending their ability to download and thus leading them all to their ends.
The final cylon will be Zak Adama.
@Tam: I am leaving early tomorrow for a different reason but it is convenient! I am heading over to a friends house after my appointment and we are watching the last six episodes that aired last year then plan on watching the episode. Squeeee!
Didn’t they show the New York skyline though in the midseason finale’? So that’s proof that it was our Earth, or at least I thought.
I’m thinking the final cylon will be Ellen Thigh because Deanna did see all 5 of them and said “4 are in your fleet” and I’m sure she’s seen Dualla before.
& Roslin is a given to die, it’s pretty much been her destiny to die since the show started.
Gots to agree with you, Craig, about that not being Earth; the place was radioactive, and why would the Gods want to send their folks there to fry? Zeus et al. are cooler than that!
I’m betting (only the weird BSG money, tho’) that it turns out that they’re ALL cylons, just different production runs. The original Cylons killed off all humanity (they were programmed to adore humanity but ended up being pissed that they couldn’t be human themselves) and have been seriously frakked up ever since. Kinda like Norman Bates and his mom.
Pity, really, cos that Helo/Gaeta match up would be frakin’ NICE!
