Why Jennifer Garner is Way Cooler than Keri Russell:

jennifergarnerheader
J.J. Abrams is pretty much responsible for launching the careers of both Jennifer Garner (Alias) and Keri Russell (Felicity). Before Star Trek came out, and they were both promoting other projects, each of the women were asked if they would join the cast of Star Trek and don Vulcan ears if Abrams asked them to. Please compare their contrasting answers below:

Jennifer Garner:

Abrams is currently busy on another high profile project. Only preliminary casting announcements have been made for Star Trek, but Abrams always throws his regulars a bone. Garner would put on Vulcan ears for him if he wants.

“Absolutely. Anything J.J. asked me to do ever, that’s a clear ‘Don’t even worry, the answer’s yes.’ I owe him.”

Keri Russell:

Though Russell hasn’t decided when she’ll return from maternity leave, she can be confident that there will be at least one person waiting for her. ”I love working with Keri,” says Abrams. ”There’s hardly any [project] that comes around that I don’t wonder if she would do it.” What about his upcoming Star Trek reboot? Would he consider casting the former Mouseketeer as a hot Klingon? ”That’d be awesome!” Abrams says, laughing.

It might take a little convincing, though. In the park, [Keri Russell] wrinkles her nose at the idea: ”I’m not that nerdy!”

Ouch! “Not that nerdy?” Not cool Keri Russell! Don’t get me wrong. I still like her, and Waitress was a great movie, but I don’t appreciate the “Star Trek is too dorky for me” attitude! I wonder if she’s changed her tune after Star Trek became such a huge (not to mention “cool”) success!

    Ouch. That kitten has claws.

I’m currently rewatching Alias, and Jennifer Garner is way cooler than Keri Russell for countless other reasons, too. She has a great ear for foreign languages and her on-screen charisma is not bound to the length of her hair, to name a couple reasons only. I’m sure others can find more.

Anyway, Jennifer Garner is WAY hotter!

  • By M. Nicodemus, June 19, 2009 @ 11:19 am

Hey Craig, when are you getting your iPhone?

  • By Enrico, June 19, 2009 @ 11:19 am

I haven’t seen Alias or Felicity, but Jennifer Garner seems cooler anyway.

  • By Ray Ray, June 19, 2009 @ 11:24 am

Now if Miss G will just gain some weight.

  • By Craig, June 19, 2009 @ 11:24 am

M Nico: After work. Supposedly I have one “reserved” for me, but the fine print of the confirmation email says that a reservation does not guarantee getting one. Hopefully that’s just a legal precaution. I better get one! It just sucks that it takes me two hours to get home from work so I won’t get to the store until around 7. Ugh. They better have one waiting for me!

Time to start burning Keri Russell effigies.

  • By Tam, June 19, 2009 @ 12:09 pm

Wow, bitchy. I’m not too familiar with Keri Russel but I love Jennifer Garner.

  • By Bill, June 19, 2009 @ 12:32 pm

I could totally see Jen Garner playing a Vulcan! :)

  • By S., June 19, 2009 @ 12:48 pm

And even though Keri was in Mission Impossible (for three seconds), Jennifer can still kick her ass and break it in two.

  • By Eternal Lizdom, June 19, 2009 @ 1:02 pm

Wow! Horribly rude answer! She obviously hasn’t gotten the memo that nerd is the new cool.

BTW- I finished Wonderfalls and it was wonder-full!

  • By Mark, June 19, 2009 @ 1:13 pm

I’m lost again. But I can tell you why Dick Sargent was way better than Dick York.

And have you guys heard about Nixon and that break in thing. He is Soo going to be impeached.

    Peace!

When my cable went kaput for a few weeks, I broke out my DVD’s of the first two season’s of Alias. I hadn’t realized that I had missed most of the first season, and while I still consider the second season better (LOVE Lena Olin), it was still one of the finest first seasons in the last 15 years.

With that being said, I would cut Keri some slack. She wasn’t running around on Felicity looking for Rimbauldi devices in Scott Speedman’s hair. So expecting her to go full Sci-Fi without a wrinkle of her nose is kind of like expecting Ellen Pompeo from Grey’s Anatomy to strap up for the Alien prequel. Plus, Keri did go full Wonder Woman…so she’s working on her geek cred.

Anyway, my question in all this is where is my Alias movie, Mr. Abrams? I know it went out with a whimper, but a reboot could make millions!

  • By Craig, June 19, 2009 @ 1:33 pm

Liz: Glad you liked Wonderfalls! I haven’t had a chance to start it yet!

Nick: The first two seasons of Alias are some of the best television ever.

And yeah, I totally cut Keri slack. The question itself is a loaded question meant to bring out those kind of responses.

    * scooby-doo double take * Rugh?

  • By Kári, June 19, 2009 @ 1:43 pm

I’ve got a simpler reason for ya, Jennifer Garner was on Alias, Keri Russel was on Felicity. It doesn’t have to be any more complicated.

  • By john, June 19, 2009 @ 2:05 pm

I loved Garner in that 13 going on 30 movie.

Kerri’s comments aren’t that bad, but she definitely underestimated the sensitivity of the geek community.

  • By Craig, June 19, 2009 @ 2:30 pm

Off topic: Why would someone get a Macbook Pro instead of a regular Macbook? Is there really that much of a difference? The specs for the 13″ models of each look very similar:

  • By josh, June 19, 2009 @ 2:34 pm

Keri Russel’s hair always reminded me of uncooked lasagnaz. Boooooz.

Plus Jennifer Garner was married to me secret pepaw boyfriend Michael Bluth in Juno. That winz her extra pointz.

  • By john, June 19, 2009 @ 2:45 pm

Craig: Not too sure. I happen to *love* my 15″ Macbook Pro. It is sooooo fast. The only drawback is it is a bit of a nut roaster.

  • By polt, June 19, 2009 @ 2:46 pm

I got no dog in this fight…I don’t really have anything to say. Which is rather noteworthy in and of itself.

    HUGS…

  • By Tam, June 19, 2009 @ 2:59 pm

But the real question is: Who has the hotter husband?

    Keri? Shane Deary

    Jen? Ben Affleck

I’m giving Jen the win on this one.

  • By john, June 19, 2009 @ 3:06 pm

I don’t even know who the other guy is, but not Affleck. I don’t understand the appeal.

  • By Enrico, June 19, 2009 @ 3:17 pm

Craig: The Macbook Pro really is for more professional usage. If you’re just looking for a laptop to use for home/college or whatevz, you should just go with the Macbook. Most college kidz I know who get the Macbook Pro only use programs that they could just use on the Macbook, therefore they (aka their parents) waste money on the pro.

  • By Mark, June 19, 2009 @ 3:19 pm

Tam: You can always cover Shanes face, but you’ll never be able to get rid of Ben’s monkey hair body. I’ll bet he has hair under his toes. eww.

  • By Mark, June 19, 2009 @ 3:31 pm

    Craig: Focus! House.

  • By The Ryan with the Cupcake, June 19, 2009 @ 3:32 pm

    Cute

  • By Craig, June 19, 2009 @ 3:39 pm

    OMG Ryan those are amazing!

  • By The Ryan with the Cupcake, June 19, 2009 @ 3:40 pm

Craig: I had a feeling that you would enjoy them.

  • By polt, June 19, 2009 @ 3:41 pm

Tam: Okay the husband question has totally got me interested now. I’m going with Keri’s guy because a) I never thought Affleck was all that, and b) Keri’s guy is shirtless in the photo. And in Polt’s world, all other things being equal, shirtless always wins the race!

    HUGS…

  • By Tam, June 19, 2009 @ 3:49 pm

    Ryan: Oh so cute.

  • By john, June 19, 2009 @ 3:52 pm

    Cupcake: Those are AWESOME!

  • By TwoPi, June 19, 2009 @ 3:54 pm

Just read that the inventor of the “Magic Fingers Vibrating Bed” passed away two days ago.

Almost makes me want to phone up the cheap hotels near the Thruway, get a room overnight, and go through a roll of quarters. (Almost.)

  • By Paul, June 19, 2009 @ 4:35 pm

Keri will be cast as a Horta in Star Trek II, hope McCoy plasters her mouth with cement.

  • By Tam, June 19, 2009 @ 5:55 pm

Wow Paul, do you have an opinion on this? :-P

  • By The Ryan with the Cupcake, June 19, 2009 @ 5:56 pm

TwoPi: You probably don’t need to get the room for the entire night.

  • By Michelle M., June 19, 2009 @ 6:38 pm

Well. Jennifer is definitely cooler than Keri (and Keri voiced WW, so for me that is something).
I would pass on both dudes. Ben Affleck. He’s all kinds of blah to me. I felt the same way about Chris O’ Donnell.

Hmmm , Alias will have to join Pushing Daisies and Veronica Mars on the netflix queue.

  • By Michelle M., June 19, 2009 @ 6:39 pm

Oh yeah, and Cuppers, those pics are awesome. I want a chipmunk!

  • By The Ryan with the Cupcake, June 19, 2009 @ 6:47 pm

Michelle M.: It reminds me of when we would leave piles of sunflower seeds and watch a chipmunk try to get them all to his burrow as quickly as possible. Blue jays have nothing on chipmunks for the speed at which they can grab food.

  • By Mark, June 19, 2009 @ 7:43 pm

Damn Craig, does it really take you 2 hours to get home from work? Wow, the longest commute I ever had was 30 miles and that included a 2 lane tunnel, and I thought that was crazy. Took me 45 minutes. But then I was driving and not riding a train most of the way. I guess in NY your 2 hrs would be more like 4, if you could drive it.

  • By Chris D., June 19, 2009 @ 8:17 pm

So Craig, are you enjoying your new iPhone 3GS yet? I almost ordered one a few days ago. My house is in a small area of “good” service amidst a larger “excellent” service zone. AT&T defines “good service” as being able to make calls outside, in some vehicles, and _possibly_ inside some buildings. I need to have a friend test my place with his phone before I switch from Verizon. Going outside to make calls is not a reasonable option for me. If it works I will pick one up when I can. I don’t expect them to be sold out for too long, if at all.

When you get yours let us know how you like it. How is the voice dialing? I was surprised that the iPhone did not have that sooner.

  • By Mark, June 19, 2009 @ 8:26 pm

I hate Verizon and would Love to switch to any other provider. The only reason I don’t is because I always have a signal when the att and other users are standing on their tiptoes to try to get a signal. So I guess I’m stuck being raped every month by Verizon.

  • By Michelle M., June 19, 2009 @ 8:31 pm

    Dave S. Where aaaaarrrrreeee you??

  • By Craig, June 19, 2009 @ 11:33 pm

Hello everyone! I’m writing this from my new 13″ MacBook Pro! It’s so pretty! Now I just have to figure out how to use it!

And I love my new iPhone too. So much faster than my old one.

Sorry Mark. I was a bad boy and spent a lot of money I didn’t have when I should’ve been saving for a house. But I love my new toys!

  • By Mark, June 20, 2009 @ 8:23 am

Craig: I understand, there’s nothing better than the smell of new electronics! Opening the box, peeling off the protective screen covers, plugging in the charger, It feels like Christmas!

  • By Michelle, June 20, 2009 @ 9:42 am

I do like Jennifer Garner in spite of the fact that she is way too beautiful. I loved her in 13 going on 30 (a suprise good movie) as well.

I wouldn’t cut Kerri any slack on that comment. I think she’s a jerk. I hate when actors/actresses come out with something like that.

I love when they are Star Trek fans or say something like Catherine Hicks did at a convention after ST4. She went to an ivy league college and said that she didn’t watch it herself at the time, but some of the “smartest, most intelligent” people she knew did. I hadn’t been that crazy about her in the movie but that made me really like her. And the fact that she’s actually shorter than me, something that few people are. :)

  • By cb, June 20, 2009 @ 10:42 am

I completely and totally <3 Jennifer Garner!

  • By Ray, June 20, 2009 @ 9:54 pm

I haven’t gone through the rest of the comments yet, but I’m sure I’m not the only one that took umbrage at the whole Sci-Fi/nerdy connection only to then realize that Sci-Fi/nerdy connection is what I love…

  • By Mat, June 20, 2009 @ 11:28 pm

Since the only buzz Keri Russell ever generated was when she cut her hair, I’m going to have to say that indeed Jennifer Garner is way cooler.

  • By map, June 21, 2009 @ 7:54 am

Yay, just been to yoga, hot sweaty yoga. Feel fab, don’t know why I haven’t been for weeks.
