Summary: So I did it! I wrote 50,000 words in August! As did Meg, Meredith, and Nan who have each written their own (sure to be amazing) novels! Mine isn’t quite finished yet as there is still another chapter or so to go (followed by a buttload of editing) but I suspect I will have it complete in the next week or so. I’m positively exhausted from the effort. As you can see in the graph above, I started off a bit weak, but have been spending nearly every free moment writing these past few days.

Thank you to all you guys for your support in this process and to all the guest posters who did amazing jobs while I was on hiatus! Regular posting should resume this week, after one final post of amazingness courtesy of Michelle M tomorrow.

    Congrats!
I loved the guest posts, but am excited for the return of regular posting.

Woohoo. I’m so proud. That is A LOT considering you have an EDJ. To me editing is the worst. I just like to hammer out ideas then let someone else fix it. :-) Or else I end up changing little things forever and then at some point you just have to scream stop and leave it be. Great job and hope you enjoy your celebration.

Craig, I think this is even more impressive than your penis! In all seriousness, I’m so impressed by the dedication, effort and result. You should be very proud! Pass on our congratulations to Meg, Meredith and Nan.

Congratulations!!!! Can’t wait to see Michelle’s post and can’t wait for your posts to resume!

Well done, big achievement to have done that many words. I dread to think of the editing process mind you!

  6. Leah on September 1, 2009 at 9:59 am

Oh, you are awesome and I am consumed by jealousy. I wish I had even half an idea in my head for a novel! Congratulations!

  7. Philip on September 1, 2009 at 10:32 am

Congrats! The very idea of doing something like that seems overwhelming to me. Very impressive.

If the average “waking hours” are 16 per day, then that’s 960 minutes per day. 960 minutes multiplied by 31 days is 29760 “waking minutes”. If my math is correct that’s just under 2 words per waking minute for every day of the month. When you consider all of the time spent formulating in your mind what you are going to write, I’d say that’s pretty amazing.

And I have way too much time on my hands.

Wow, great job Craiggers! And I KNOW I’m gonna like the book because some guy names Dodger apparently had a whip in this mouth!!! And here I thought this was gonna be a children’s book! :)

Can’t wait for Michelle M.’s next post…which will undboutably prove once again that she NEEDS her own blog.

And john, I gotta disagree with you…this is NOT more impressive than Craiggers’ penis…and as soon as I see it in person, I’ll confirm that for you. :)

    HUGS….

Well done. There is nothing more gratifying than keeping a commitment to yourself. Hope all goes well as this continues to move forward.

And yes, Michelle needs her own blog, even if it means we have to do an intervention to get it going.

    Yay! Bravo.

Good job, Craig! I’m glad you were able to suck it up and achieve your goal.

  13. Eternal Lizdom on September 1, 2009 at 1:25 pm

    Yay!! Good job!!

  14. Chris D. on September 1, 2009 at 2:59 pm

Great job Craig! We always believed in you. The guest posts were fun, but we missed your special brand of wit. Good luck finishing off and editing your novel. We are still rooting for you!

Congrats! I am really impressed; I do hope you will share your creation with your humble dancing monkeys once you put on all the finishing touches. You have inspired me to write my own novel during NaNoWriMo in November, wish me luck!

Oh, and if you need an incentive to finish all the editing you could enter the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest which should be coming up in February :)

  16. Craig on September 1, 2009 at 4:42 pm

    Thanks everyone!

Polt: Get your mind out of the gutter! Dodger is a dog! Uh oh, you’re not into bestiality are you? :-P

    M. Nico: Yay! I’m glad you’re gonna do NaNoWriMo. That’s fantastic!

I’m trying to figure out a way to share it with everyone. Perhaps I’ll send everyone a hard copy with a felt-tipped red pen and a note that says MARK ME UP!

  17. Michelle M. on September 1, 2009 at 7:40 pm

Ugh. Math and charts. My brain skips over that stuff. But congrats on achieving your goal! Stop by San Diego on your book.

It was so much fun reading all the guest posts – but I’m glad you’re back. Your blog just isn’t the same without you : ).

  18. Polt on September 1, 2009 at 10:24 pm

Not into bestiality at all…but if a cute wants me to put a muzzle and collar on him and lead him around on all fours on a leash, who am I to say no? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

And would I be able to actually mark YOU up? I mean instead of red pen, I could use strawberry sauce? Or chocoalte sauce? :)

    HUGS…

  19. Kelly on September 2, 2009 at 12:49 am

Awesome! I am glad that you made your goal…but as much as I’ve enjoyed your guest posts, I have missed you.

  20. Sven on September 3, 2009 at 7:18 am
