I think this is what Jay Leno meant when he told Ryan Phillippe to give him his best gay face:

This is a poster for the new TV show Modern Family on ABC that I found on the subway. I don’t think I’ve smiled like that since I got socks on my 9th birthday. I love the biscuit (???) too. Gays love feeding each other biscuits! In the show’s defense though, the commercials don’t make the guys (played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet) seem so stereotypically annoying, but this poster just cracks me up. Plus Ed O’Neill is in it and the commercials look pretty funny, so I may actually watch. Maybe. If there’s room on my DVR.

I like to smash spaghetti into my boyfriends’ faces, but now I can’t wait to try it with biscuits. It looks SUPERFUN.

I was thinking about watching this one too… I loved Bored to Death on HBO, and I’m glad that the Office and Parks and Recreation is back on too.

“Modern Family” has a fantastic pilot episode. Those aren’t biscuits, they’re cremepuffs and that’s from a gag in the pilot, which plays into some gay stereotypes but no more than it plays into old dad stereotypes and too-hip dad stereotypes. It’s a very funny premiere that’s definitely worth watching.

RJ is totally the creator of the show. Wouldn’t that be funny?
I thought the Office last week was really great. I heard Parks and Recreation was good too, but I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet. I wasn’t very impressed by last season, but I kept it on the DVR anyway.

What, no love for Big Bang Theory which premiered last night? It was pretty funny.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:33 am
Sorry John. I still haven’t seen the 2nd season yet. I’m waiting for the DVD.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:33 am
Yeah, I’ve been looking at that poster for a long time – there’s definitely something disturbing about those two gay dads… I guess the marketing department decided the show was for straight people.

That must be one freaking tasty biscuit to induce such orgasmic delight. I’ve been to the south, they weren’t that good.
Alright, reading the posts before I clicked submit, I see RJ says it’s a cream puff. Okay, I can let it go for a cream puff because those are yummy delights.
So when is this on?
September 22nd, 2009 at 9:26 am
Uh oh, it’s on tomorrow at the same time as GLEE!
September 22nd, 2009 at 9:50 am
Oh well, too bad, so sad. I won’t be watching it and I don’t have DVR or TIVO or any of that fancy shit. I have a remote that makes the channels go up and down. Sigh.
September 22nd, 2009 at 9:59 am
I was so disappointed by Parks and Rec last year – not funny at all. I’ll be DVR’ing Modern Family (sorry Tam!). I missed Big Bang last night – dammit!
September 22nd, 2009 at 9:59 am
I’m totally DVRing this show!! Never heard of it before this post, so I’m super happy you talked about it — I would’ve been totally oblivious (imagine that…).
It looks hysterical.
Heroes premiered last night and Chaz and I are slated to watch it when he gets home from school this afternoon. Can’t wait to see where they go with it this time. I really hope they get back to the save-the-world comic-book-like storyline like in the first season, since they’ve been kinda missing the mark of late.
And I have yet to catch Glee (except for that excellent first episode earlier this summer), but it’s all DVR’ed and waiting patiently for me to find the time to catch up.

I don’t know that I’ll watch this, as I don’t watch much Network TV. And on this hilatious side note, I got an envelope at the new house informing me that I’ve been chosen to be a Neilson family! Who knew? Me, the guy who doesn’t watch network TV will be affecting what all you people who DO watch network TV. Oh the irony.
Got an questionnaire to fill out and five fresh one dollar bills for my time as well. All in all, i’m kinda excited about this actually.
HUGS…
September 22nd, 2009 at 10:22 am
The Office is the funniest show I’ve ever seen.
But I’m still catching up (I’m on season 3).
September 22nd, 2009 at 10:23 am
Polt: That’s awesome!!! I’ve always wanted to be a Neilson family! That’s *so* cool!
September 22nd, 2009 at 10:25 am
But Polt, how can you watch tv when you’re off to the strip club, putting your fresh dollar bills to good use?
September 22nd, 2009 at 10:36 am
Dave S.: Yeah, it IS kinda cool, isn’t it?
TwoPi: Well, since I’m a new home owner, I’ll have to cut down on the strip club trips, ya know, like only once a week or so.
HUGS…
September 22nd, 2009 at 10:48 am
Polt: Key words: “or so”
September 22nd, 2009 at 10:52 am
Dave S.: I think that people who work in glass strip clubs ought to not throw grammitical stones, ya know?
HUGS…
September 22nd, 2009 at 10:53 am
…although you will notice I did not disagree with what you said.
HUGS…
September 22nd, 2009 at 11:23 am
Arrgh… too many shows to watch, it’s starting to cut into my video game playing time
My schedule is pretty full already, I don’t think I will be watching this one (as it is I am behind on Supernatural, and the season just started!)
September 22nd, 2009 at 11:26 am
Kári: I agree, there is something wrong with that photo… looks too much like two straight guys acting gay.
September 22nd, 2009 at 11:32 am
Awww, it feels like old times here: Dave S. and Polt teasing each other, all of us comparing notes on what we do and don’t watch.
I think I need a tissue. *sniff sniff*
September 22nd, 2009 at 12:17 pm
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I heard that gay people never feed themselves. There’s always someone by their side ready to feed them. With a smile. I might be misinformed.
September 22nd, 2009 at 12:46 pm
Well there’s always lots of feeding going on. But biscuits? Never.
September 22nd, 2009 at 1:52 pm
A note: one of the actors in the gay couple is Jesse Tyler Ferguson who is, in fact, gay. Imagine that! A gay person actually playing a gay person on TV! Groundbreaking.
The subway ads made me nauseous because I got the sense that these were three separate families, all looking pretty average except for the “wild and wacky” gay family. I was ready to get pissed off. But I read an article that explains they are all part of the same extended family, which is fairly dysfunctional, so the “wacky” is evenly distributed. Also, it’s done similar to The Office, in that it’s a mockumentary. So it has potential.
That is, if I actually watched any TV. Which I don’t.
September 22nd, 2009 at 2:49 pm
oh, has it been mentioned that this post got linked in Queerty?
September 22nd, 2009 at 3:20 pm
GoKitty: Yeah, but I’m the one that sent them the link, so I think that negates any coolness that would have been.
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:14 pm
I was going to say that I was taken aback by the over the top gayness of that grin, but my consistent sleeveless-ness and eyeliner abuse kind of cancel out my faux-outrage…
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Yay! Dave’s back!
I’ll give the show a shot.
Tam – no DVR/TiVo? Ouch. I’ll light a candle for you.
September 22nd, 2009 at 9:00 pm
I can’t see this show because I don’t have cable! Someone give me their television access so I can know what you all are talking about. Until then I will be watching my COMPLETE collections of the two best showz of all time: “Arrested Development” and “The Simple Life.”
September 22nd, 2009 at 9:26 pm
It should be available the day after airing for free on abc.go.com and for a small fee at iTunes.
I’m DVRing Melrose Place (Amanda returns in November!!!), but I haven’t had the time to watch it yet.
