Pandorum – Review

Me and Michelle saw Pandorum the other day. There were a few choices of movies we wanted to see, but I ended up picking this one because I was in the mood for something scary. The commercials reminded me of Event Horizon which is still one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen and thought this would be similar. While it started off with a similar feel to Event Horizon, and the atmosphere of the ship was definitely pretty spooky, overall the movie was not that scary at all. I’m not even sure if they were going for scary. It ended up being more science fiction rather than horror, which was disappointing only because I was in the mood for something really scary. The plot was definitely interesting and the overall mystery surrounding the ship was fun, but there was a plotline that we’ve seen about a million times, so that aspect was another disappointment. Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster of course gave great performances so it elevated the movie beyond just being a typical B-movie, plus Cam Gigandet is always nice to look at. Overall it was good, and you should definitely rent it if you’re interested when it comes out, but I wouldn’t say you have to rush out to see it, especially if you’re looking for a horror movie. Here’s hoping Paranormal Activity is as scary as everyone says, because I still have a horror itch that needs to be scratched!

Meh, I thought it was watch-ably bad, but it was nothing more The Road Warrior in The Poseidon Adventure on board the Nostromo.

I wish our theator in town had more than one movie a week, there can be quite a wait between movies I actually want to watch (and we never get horror movies.) Luckily this weekend Gamer is playing, I hope it’s good!

I wasn’t as impressed with it as my cohorts were. It’s something I would have rather seen at home because at least then I could have done other things while NOT loving it. It did make me jump a couple of times but I guess I was hoping for something less predictable.

Michelle and I.
Sorry.
I hate when they market things as the wrong genre. I don’t get it. The wrong target audience ends up seeing it, so of course they’re disappointed and tell everyone it sucks. Though marketing something as science fiction usually guarantees no one will see it anyway, so I guess I understand why they did that with this film.
Paranormal Activity is getting ridiculously great reviews, so I’m hoping that means it’ll go to wide release. I’m interested, but not interested enough to travel to see it.
You should have seen Zombieland. It’s more comedy than horror, but it’s like comedy for horror fans, like Shaun of the Dead. Not as intelligent as SotD but 100x funnier. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. I might see it again.

Oz: Screw grammar, this is MY blog and I get to go first!
Yeah, Zombieland was one of the choices. Definitely still want to see that.

Hey just to say I’m still alive. I kinda spaced out when you took a month for writing but started recapping the lost posts. Event Horizon was creepy yes. And I didn’t know who the heck this Cam dude was, but a quick google image search tells me he is VERY nice to look at, especially if he’s shirtless.

How about “I saw Pandorum with Michelle the other day”? Then we can both be happy.

Thanks for the review. Now I know to skip it in the theater and Netflix it. I can’t wait to see Paranormal Activity. And Zombieland, too.
And Happy Birthday john!

I’ve never even heard of this! I’m keeping my fingerz crossed that Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus turnz out to be amazingly terrifying! [and by "amazingly terrifying" I mean "nauseatingly terrible"]

Lately at work I get error messages for this blog. Grrr. Not firewalled, just “can not access this address”. Annoys me to no end.
Anyway, my chicken-heartedness is well known, no scary movies for me. Maybe the next one will make you pee your pants in fear. You can always hope.

From your tweet I’m wondering if I should be expecting a late night call this evening?
HUGS…

I was wondering whether anyone should expect a phone call as well.
