For their 20th birthday, Empire Magazine has a gallery of famous actors revisiting their iconic roles. I love them all, but have to say this one of Sam Neill is my absolute favorite:

JurassicParkEmpire
It almost brings a tear to my eye since Jurassic Park has such a special place in my heart. I said almost! Shut up, I just have something in my eye! Don’t look at me! Click here to see the gallery for yourselves!

The “Atonement,” “Shaun of the Dead” & ” Se7en” homages were also pretty awesome.

    How old is Arnold? Wow!!
You’d think Anthony Hopkins could afford an iron.
I don’t remember Hermione having legs like that.
What character is Jack Nicholson doing? All of them?
Couldn’t they have Tom Cruise revisit a role in a movie people actually saw?

I’ve never heard of said magazine. I have to say Jodie Foster is looking good but Mel Gibson not so much and is Matt Damon shrinking? I know he’s no Craig in the height department but he looked incredibly stubby. Nicely done pictoral.

  4. Enrico on December 3, 2009 at 12:36 pm

My favorite was Emma Watson. LOVE HER.
    And Ben Stiller looks terrible.

  5. Craig on December 3, 2009 at 12:39 pm

Yeah, I have no idea which role Jack Nicholson is doing. I like your idea John.

I’ve always thought Rupert Grint was much cuter than Dan Rad.

  7. The Ryan with the Cupcake on December 3, 2009 at 2:09 pm

Mark: I’ve never found Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe, or even Tom Felton attractive. I do like Sean Biggerstaff (and not just because of his last name).

  8. Mark on December 3, 2009 at 2:37 pm

Ryan: Sean is cute, but honestly, would you kick Rupert out of your bed on a cold winter night? When choosing a snuggle buddie, Rupert wins!

  9. josh on December 3, 2009 at 2:42 pm

Snuggle buddy? I’d pick my future husband, whoever that is.Or Robert Downey, Jr.

  10. Derek on December 3, 2009 at 2:55 pm

I’m right there with you Craig, when I saw this picture I pretty much just got enveloped it all the old childhood joy and adoration for Jurassic Park and Dr. Grant.

  11. Mark on December 3, 2009 at 3:08 pm

Josh: Ewww, Robert Downey Jr is my age. I see you falling asleep with a close personal friend after watching a Britney concert DVD, then waking up at 4 in the morning. You don’t realize your laying next to Enrico at first, but then you do, and you pull him closer and drift back into a deep and blissful sleep.

    OK, it’s my fantasy.

  12. josh on December 3, 2009 at 3:19 pm

Mark: That’s kinda close…but a few changes to your fantasy, if I may…

“watching a Britney concert DVD” -> “analyzing the poetic value of Michelle Branch lyrix”

“waking up @ 4 in the morning [feat. G. Stefani]” -> we’d never fall asleep in the first place if we were talkin’ about depressing song lyrix!

“…drift back into a deep and blissful sleep.” -> listen to Rhonetta & Steven the Beautiful’s dazzling debut duet single “Excuse Mah Beauty [the Bubbly Water Splashdown Fiesta Mix].”

Hermoine’s gams…good LORD! Who knew? Course, it looked like Harry had a hairy chest, is that so? And thankfully, they’re all legal now, so I don’t feel skeevy.

Did like the Shaun Of The Dead set best! Even had the Batman soundtrack laying out. Seriously, anything with Simon Pegg is worth watching. he slays me!

    HUGS>..

  15. Polt on December 3, 2009 at 3:28 pm

Oh, and I forgot, Rupert = a redhead with a hairthing….yeah, he can be my buddy….but we’ll pass the snuggle stage rather quickly. :)

    HUGS…

  16. Tam on December 3, 2009 at 3:31 pm

Ryan: You know how to pick the cute Harry Potter boys. Sigh.

    Puntabuslash. Funny

I think Robert Downey Jr. is hot. Oh right, I’m slightly older.

  17. Mark on December 3, 2009 at 3:35 pm

Josh: Sounds like the perfect night!

I’m going to bed now and dream about the man that got away. nite nite.

  18. Mark on December 3, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Oh, Hey Tam! I didn’t see you standing over there. Anyway, I really gotta go to bed, but LUV YA!

  19. Tam on December 3, 2009 at 3:44 pm

Night night hon. I haven`t been around much today.

  20. Michelle M. on December 3, 2009 at 7:15 pm

john – All of them. Ha!
I thought the “American Psycho” one was good.

Seeing some of these actors looking so old makes me feel a little old. This set of photos reminds me of a portraiture lighting guidebook.

I was very interested in dinosaurs when I was a kid. I loved going to the museum of natural history. I was in high school when Jurassic Park came out. I think I was too old to be impacted by it in quite the same way you were.

Of the movies alluded to in that collection I think Terminator 2: Judgment Day had the biggest impact on me. I was interested in technology, and admired the rugged, effective, and unfeeling nature of the terminator. I am sure it inspired my black leather jacket phase.

  22. john on December 3, 2009 at 9:50 pm

Mel Gibson looks older than dirt.

  23. Michelle M. on December 3, 2009 at 10:14 pm

    Where is Ben Stiller’s neck?

  24. Vic on December 4, 2009 at 6:03 am

John – Hermione never did have legs like that!

Seeing how much Clint Eastwood’s aged is just scary. And someone should remind Arnie that he just can’t pull off that terminator look anymore.

  25. David on December 4, 2009 at 5:38 pm

Faves are “Silence of the Lambs” “Jurassic Park” the second “Potter Kids” photo, the third “Atonement” photo, “LOTR”, and “Toy Story”. I also like the second “American Psycho” image and the “Sean of the Dead” sets.

I think Ben Stiller is purposefully sucking his cheeks in, which is why he looks so weird in the photos.

  26. Ray on December 7, 2009 at 11:00 pm

I thought maybe they could’ve clarified if Christian Bale was from American Psycho or if that was a snap of his onset rampage. I’m just confused, is all.

I liked Keira Knightley just out of the sheer cuteness of her dress and ankle busters. Shaun of the Dead also good…
